Harris Teeter couponers please?

I'm very new and learning. My DH has offered to run to HT tomorrow for me to pick up a few really good deals and I want to know if I'm giving him the right info. I don't want him to have a surprise at the register.

I'm sending him to get 12 packages of frozen Green Giant veggies. They're BOGO so 97 cents each. I've got 12 manufactures 50 cent coupons which will be doubled so basically the veggies are free.

Unless HT won't take the coupons for the free items? I know they do at Publix but I'm just starting to try HT and don't want him to get up to the register and be told he can't do that. Anyone with first hand info?

BTW...got the info at Southern Savers and they indicate that I can do that.

You can only use 3 of a kind coupons per day with your VIC card, so you may need to go over 4 days.

Any coupons of like kind above 3 will only be taken at face value, so you will pay the additional .50.

Ugh. Glad I asked. I'm really working at this coupon thing but it's very confusing. Publix seems to have the easiest rules.

So, if I send him for just 4 packs of veggies he can use 4 coupons and pay 50 cents for the 4 packs? Is that correct?

It depends on how closely your local HT follows policy. They only take one coupon per 2 items on BOGO and don't double coupons that say DO NOT DOUBLE. So, on 4 items, you could use 2 coupons. If they are the same printables that I had, they say DO NOT DOUBLE, so they will only be face value.

My HT no longer lets you use two coupons on a BOGOF. I still manage to get the coupons that require you to buy two of something through on BOGOFs most of the time. You can get the veggies free by buying them literally one at a time b/c you do get the item for 1/2 price if you buy one of a BOGOF.

Only three like coupons doubling (or tripling) has always been in the case.

Ah, yes, the above is also true, although my closest store DOES allow one coupon per item. I forgot that many don't and last week did try to use two and they wouldn't take them both.

And be prepared to ask for a rain check. You get one a day up to a certain limit....so if you planned to by 10 for a total of 20, they won't write the rain check for that much.

My HT tends to have the veggies completely raided when the sale is really good on certain items.

Thanks all! I'm really serious about saving money where I can by couponing. But, so far it seem complicated and frustrating. I appreciate the advice.
