Good morning. May seem like a strange question, but DH is very claustrophobic and cannot tolerate the over your head restraints that rest on your shoulders. He can tolerate the lap ones i.e. splash and space mountain.
What kind, if any, does 'soarin' have? We are so looking forward to this ride. Also, will a 5 month pregnant daughter be ok on this ride? Thank you so much!

I'm not sure about the pregnant daughter......but I do know Soarin' uses lap restraints. Enjoy!

Soarin does have lap restraints. It is obviously at the discretion of your daughter whether she can handle the ride. The restraints should fit her ok...it does fit me and I am pooh sized.

As far as I remember, RnR is the only ride at disney with the horse collars.

I think Virtual Space Mountain at Disney Quest also has Over the Shoulder Restraints.

Stitch's Great Escape (the former Alien Encounter) also has shoulder restraints. They're what delivers the sensory input for this attraction (sounds and smells), but as a mild claustrophobic they bug me so much I can't handle it. Not that the attraction is any great loss, but I also couldn't handle it when it was Alien Encounter (tried it once in each incarnation - won't do it again).

However, I don't have any problem with the shoulder restraints on RNRC - they don't press down like the ones at Stitch do, so I guess that's the difference for me.

Thank you all! I was laughing at the description of shafke, the 'horse collars'!!! They certainly do feel like that. Alien had them too and I hated it.

I don't like the "horse collars" very much either but I have discovered that when you are in Stitch's Great Escape you can hold the harness up a little off your shoulders and still get the effect. I have a friend who almost freaked with the harnesses so we figured out that putting your hands up and holding the harness up a little until it locks in a higher position usually has you lose enough you can slip out if you really must and just the fact that she had the extra wiggle room was enough to help her enjoy the show. It all depends on the person but I thought it was worth a mention.

Mission Space also has the over the shoulder harness restraints.
