Hardwood floor vacuum

Hands down for me it's a Miele canister. It's expensive, but mine is 13 years old and has never given me a problem and leaves my hardwood floors beautifully clean.

Just look for one that you can turn off the beater brush and just about anyone will work fine. I love my Bissell Healthy Home got it at Lowes for $199 and then got a $75 mail in gift card rebate- purchased about 6 months ago. Our entire downstairs is tile and hardwood. We love it!

I need one too! I am shocked at the tumbleweeds that accumulate on the hardwood, guess the old ugly carpet was good for something! :) I swear, I clean a lot. My cats are just really furry.

What about a good old fashioned dry mop?? That's what I use, throw the head in with the white cloths to wash it.

I feel like when I vaccuum the hard wood floor that it spits a lot of it back out behind it and never really picks up enough. So I end up going around with the hose and attachment. I also use a swiffer to help get up some of the dust and stuff that seems to accumulate so quickly on the hard wood floors. But they never seem clean to me. They are pretty when they are clean but they sure are a pain to keep clean.

We also have an eskimo spitz who sheds terribly and there are constantly white tumbleweeds everywhere no matter how often I vaccuum. I'm amazed that he has any hair left on his body at all with what I keep picking up off the floor.

I use the Dyson on my hardwood and on my tile. We only have carpets in the bedrooms, we have hardwood in the living & dining rooms and the kitchens & baths have tile, the Dyson goes from 1 to the other with no problems.

Everything I have read so far is that canisters are better for hardwood or tile floors.

Nothing has cleaned my hardwood floors better than my roomba, and I have tried ALOT of different vacuums and sweepers. The good news with roomba is that it runs itself!!!! Highly highly highly recommended.... good luck...

I love the Dyson Animal - it is great for non-carpeted floors as long as you turn it to the bare floor setting. So powerful and great for furniture and carpeted floors in addition. We also have the Roomba and it is great. Either way, they are both expensive, but will last which is more cost effective anyway. We have had the Roomba for two years and the Dyson for nearly five and haven't had any issues. We use the Roomba in our "cat room" where the litterboxes are.
