Hard time knowing where to make reservations

I'm having a hard time with all this planning!!! I have somewhat of a plan so far as to what parks we'll be at on certain days. My issue is, we have two little kids and should we just make it easy and eat at what park we're at?? Or is it just as easy to go from a park to a different hotel to eat??? And do all hotels shuttle among other resorts?? We'll be at POFQ. If we eat at Chef Mickey's at the Cont. for dinner, is it easy to get back to our hotel???

Also, do any of you sometimes make more than one reservation for a night just in case you end up at a different park and it works out better for a different restaurant??

As you can tell, I'm a newbie at all of this!!! I just want to make our first family vacation the best!!

If you're relying on Disney transportation, you'd probably be better off eathing at the park you're in, or at least at a resort close by. For example, if you're going to be in MK, you could eat at a MK restaurant, or you could eat at the Contemporary, Poly, of GF since they're all a short monorail ride away from MK. Then you'd just go back to MK to get the bus back to your resort.

It can take a long time to get from resort to resort if you're using the bus system. I don't think I'd try that with small kids.

You are not supposed to make multiple ADR's for the same night. If you have 2 ADRs for the same night, you're basically be preventing someone else from getting an ADR at one of those places. It's unfair, and I've heard that Disney Dining will cancel 1 if they notice that you have 2 ADRs for the same night.

I would suggest purchasing a good Disney guide book:

The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World by Julie and Mike Neal
Birnbaum's Walt Disney World by Birnbaum Travel Guides
The Unofficial Guide by Bob Sehlinger and Len Testa
PassPorter by Dave and Jennifer Marx

A guide book is great help when it comes to planning everything Disney, including restaurants. Have a great time and remember to always take a break in the middle of the day.
