Hard time at a DVC resort

Someone above said the same SSR because of DS. Being you can walk to DS and they are attached by walking paths it is not breaking any of the rules you mentioned.... You would even have access to some great stage entertainment in passing. There is also Bike rentals and a Spa besides the attached Golf course. Multiple pools Tennis courts (plenty of time to learn something new). Keep walking and you will have access to the grounds of OKW you do not have to set foot in the hotel part being a sidewalk is a public area.

Right, but by this logic, staying at the Boardwalk is even better because I can walk to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Seriously though, as I recall, the OP said you have to stay on property. Thus, if you were at the Beach Club, you could not walk to the Boardwalk. If you were at the Poly, you could not walk to the Grand Floridian.

This is, after all, “hard time.”

Follow up thought: Remember that you are doing life there. You may have a favorite resort that is great for a week, or two, or three...but will you get tired of it after many years there? Maybe a different one...one that you don't particularly care about, could be better long term. Does that make you think any differently?

Since we've rarely stayed anywhere but the GF and VGF, my answer is a demure, "Not only no but H-E-double-toothpick NO!"

I know from experience at CR, VWL aka BRV and a Poly studio that I'm a GF/VGF kind of gal. The others don't tempt me a bit.

Oh wow. This is a hard one and the more I read other people's arguments the more confused I get!

My choices would be either ...

AKV -- We own there so we love it.

• animals outside your balcony
• 2 different pools and many hot tubs
• 4 restaurants plus one of my favorite bars on property
• tennis, shuffleboard and basketball courts
• I assume that both Kidani and Jambo are open, so plenty of walking between the two.
• spa
• minus - no ongoing entertainment

BWV -- We own there so we love it.

• Boardwalk entertainment
• Many nice pools (assuming we can go to the Inn side too)
• A variety of restaurants and bars, plus the bakery plus an ice cream parlor.
• dancing and singing
• fireworks from Epcot and DHS
• tennis
• minus - walking around the resort is limited and can get boring.

SSR -- We don't own there and it's one of my least favorites for a trip. BUT, it has a lot going for it for a ... ahem ... long term stay.

• HUGE grounds with a variety of walking paths. Woods and water.
• I love the idea of living in treehouse with a huge porch and a private grill.
• very nice pools
• nice spa
• tennis
• golf (I would learn to play)
• minus - restaurants are limited as is ongoing entertainment

VGF -- We stayed there once and liked it, but it's not a favorite for a regular trip.

• large variety of restaurants and bars
• large enough grounds to not feel too cramped.
• nice pools
• spa
• some ongoing entertainment (bring back the orchestra!)
• MK fireworks
• nice water views
• the wedding pavilion is close by and it's fun to watch people get married
• minus - being so close to the MK would make me cry.

Polynesian -- We love the Polynesian

• I love the theme.
• I love the grounds. I would be a very relaxing place for me.
• private splash pool at my bungalow. Heck yes!
• dole whips for life
• MK fireworks with the sound piped in
• sand volleyball
• minus - the footprint of the resort is smaller and they're not bringing back the luau .

BLT -- Nope

• too small
• boring pool

WL Resorts -- Nope (although I have not been there in years)

• too remote

RIV -- Nope (and I love the RIV)

• the footprint is way too small.
• the pool is super boring
• limited restaurants

BCV -- Nope

• footprint is small
• restaurants are limited if I can't go next door to the YC.

OKW -- Nope

• restaurants are VERY limited, which nixes everything else good about OKW for me.

Are Kidani and Jambo both counted as AKL? Because if so there’s no contest. Over time I’d find a way to infiltrate the savanna. I’ll become one with the okapi. The cranes will dance with me. Yes, Kidani and Jambo count as AKL so you can use all of AKL.

Yeah, the orchestra. I miss it sooooooo much. Nothing but the pianist is not-that-Grand.

I'd miss the MK a lot. I could probably make do with a drink and munchies from Gaspy's at a table on its terrace to watch fireworks EVERY night. That wouldn't be tooooo agonizing even though I'd definitely miss HM...and POTC...7DMT...Tiki Room...Monsters INC Laugh Floor...

Other Clarification: If you pick BRV, CCV...they count as WL so you can use all of WL. BLT and Contemporary, etc...you get the idea.
However...DS does not count as SSR unfortunately. That's a bridge too far.

Most people seem to be picking WDW resort but I think I would probably pick Aulani! Whiles BCV is my home resort, one of its big advantages is the closeness to parks. Aulani was made for people to stay there, rather than to use for it's location. It would be even better if the restuarants and activities were back to pre-covid offerings! I think I could be happy waking up every day to sunrise over the mountains and ending each day with sunset over the ocean.

The pools and slides are great fun, and when I'm bored of that I can go paddle boarding or snorkle with the tropical fish. I could learn to play the ukulele to pass the time. I seem to deal with the heat far better there than I do in Orlando too. I can always get a dole whip or shaved ice to cool me down, anyway.

I'm picking the ocean view grand villa, of course!

I've been thinking about that as well. Florida weather is nice, but Hawaii weather and the scenery is even better.

BLT is getting a short straw I believe - would you be able to do water activity on Bay Lake ?? If so - that would be a nice change of pace
I also enjoy eating at the Top of The World Lounge for some cake and snacks before heading over to the top floor of the Contemporary for dinner
AND nothing beats those Sunday Brunches omg would have to have those every Sunday !!
