04.27.06 - Hard Rock announces plans for rock n' roll theme park
Brace yourself Myrtle Beach. The Hard Rock Park is coming! The company that revolutionized the way you dine is putting a new face on large-scale entertainment. Set to open in 2008, Hard Rock Park will feature six unique, custom-designed zones celebrating rock's culture, lifestyle, legends and irreverence, roller coasters, children's play areas, restaurants, cafes, retail stores and a multi-purpose live music amphitheater.

We love MB! I've been hearing rumors about a theme park there for quite a few years. First, the rumor was a Disney park. Then, a Disney-like park. A Hard Rock park will be great! Our DS will love it. I didn't see when they expect it to open. If it's going to be open by summer, MB will definitely be where we'll spend our Summer of 2008 vacation. :woohoo:

Ooh, I've never been to Myrtle Beach. We go to Hilton Head Island a lot, so I think we will make a trip!

Myrtle Beach is perfect - the halfway point for us (when going to Florida)
I'd also be excited to check it out! Hey, the more quality theme parks in this world, the better!

They've been talking about this for years. Have a rest. @ Broadway @ the Beach. It's supposed to go in the old pottery/outlet mall off of 501 (just what they need to make that traffic nightmare worse LOL).

Heard it will be a decidely small-scale (1 roller coaster?) affair. Still, would be nice to visit when in MB.

Warning to all who think this would be a good stop off point on the way to FL, during high season the hour trek in from I-95 can turn into a 3 hour nightmare, especially if they're running the car races, w/bumper-to-bumper tourist traffic; especially on Fri & Sat nights.

as Joey Lawrence would say, "W H O A !"

The old Waccamaw Pottery place? By Medieval Times? Excellent. The farther away from Little River, the better.

That place is a disaster for traffic already as the "main" artery into MB (thru Conway). They've widened 501 nicely on the west side of the waterway, but then it chokes down before it hits 17. The traffic trade-off between 501 and 17 is bad enough, with the intersection between Broadway at the Beach and the big new mall.

When do they finish I-73? The NC part is almost complete (well, to Rockingham at least).

That's what we were told last year when we visited. We've tried every goofy shortcut over the last 20 years imaginable. My DH groans each time I think I've got a secret new route but, gamely goes for it. LOL.
