Harbor hotels bed question.

We're staying at DLH for most of the trip, but we'll have 2 nights on Harbor first. I've narrowed down my hotel choices, but the question is if the beds are good or not. I have a bad back so I have to try my best to get reliably comfortable beds.

1. Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites- Some reviews say their beds are worn out and uncomfortable. Has anyone tried them lately and if so, how was your bed? We would be in the C2 parlor suite which has 4 queen beds.

2. Hojo and Courtyard Marriott- Are the bunk beds twin or smaller? My kids are pretty much adult sized (6 ft and 5'4").
I've tried booking enough queen beds for everyone at these hotels, but for my dates the best I could get is 1 king and bunk beds.

3. Hojo, Best western Anaheim plus inn and Courtyard Marriott- Are the king and queen beds comfortable?

Thanks for any input!

1. I am admittedly a mattress snob, I've had extensive back surgery, and I hate the beds at DI&S. DH, on the other hand, could sleep on top of a garbage bag filled with pine cones and not complain. But, even he complained about the beds last time we stayed there in 2019, and we decided we wouldn't likely stay there again. Not only was the mattress uncomfortable, it felt like the foot of the bed was a couple inches higher than the headboard.

2. CY are twins, I'm not sure about Hojo.

3. I have found the most comfortable beds on Harbor at Hojo and Park Vue.

I wanted to clarify I am only laughing at your pinecone comment! Hilarious! 😆

I don't know about the bunk beds, but the queen beds at Hojo are GREAT. We slept so well there. We've only stayed in the remodeled rooms though so I don't know if the older rooms have the same beds.

We just stayed at Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites. I was prepared for a bad mattress experience and I thought it was fine. What was more strange to me was the lack of bedding. They just had a sheet, small blanket and then a sheet on top. It was really cold last week and when we asked for extra blankets, they would only give us 2, despite having 4 beds.

1. I found the beds at Desert Inn and Suites to be super firm and uncomfortable.

2. The bunks at Hojo are "junior bunks" -- the website description says they're perfect for kids "5 feet and under" (The ADA queen/bunk room says it has twin bunks, but I assume they prefer for those to be reserved for the disabled).

3. I agree with the prior posts that the queen beds at Hojo are super comfortable -- I had a hard time rousting my family out of bed, they were sleeping so hard.

The bunk beds at the Courtyard are regular twin beds, and I feel like I (a 5'7" person who doesn't roll around while sleeping) could have slept comfortably on one of them. The king bed we slept on seemed quite nice and was a good combo of firm (you don't fall down into the mattress) and soft (everything feels cushy when you lay down).

We recently stayed at desert inn and the bed was terrible. With both my husband and I in bed, it sagged in the middle. I felt like I was sleeping in a taco! Lol.

Hojo has had the most comfortable beds for us on harbor.

Have a great trip!

I just got back from my second stay at the Best Western Anaheim Plus Inn and the beds are OK. Not great, not terrible. The pillows, however, SUCK. I love this hotel, but the pillows are kinda like laying your head on a sack of flour. Again, I love this hotel and it's my first choice now when booking a DLR trip, but... those pillows.

Thanks! I saw your great video about the taco bed :) That's what inspired me to ask specifically about hotel beds on harbor.

Thank you for all the great replies! All those other hotel features I've been looking at don't matter if the bed is terrible. I will take Desert Inn and Suites off my list.

Best Western Anaheim plus doesn't have my dates so I'll cross that one off, too, even though it's so close.

I'll probably go with the Hojo. We stayed there years ago before the renovations, and one of their 4 queen adjoining rooms opened up for my dates just this morning. I might do the family suite just because it looks so cute and it costs less. As long as the bunk beds are big enough.

I may try Courtyard if one of their 2 queen/ bunk rooms opens up just to try something new and the beds seem there don't get many complaints.

Thanks again :)

Just stayed at Desert Inn a few weeks ago and hated the bed!
Well this is disheartening! I've seen a lot of people on here recommend it and say it's always at the top of their list. I was considering it myself for one of the 2 room suites.

Sorry! For me it wasn't comfortable at all and I didn't sleep well the whole three nights. I know everyone has different opinions, but for me I just didn't care for it!

People like DIS because it is close to the crosswalk and it has suites. But, the beds are really bad. I've seen people say "Doesn't matter as long as it is close", but for me, beds matter.

Park Vue Inn is my recent new go to hotel and love love love their beds.

Desert Inn is literally off limits to me just on the bed alone , I need something comfy at the end of a 6 hour drive and days in the parks.

I looked for their 3 queen suite but it wasn't available. I've always wanted to stay there.

Lol!! Too funny!! You can tell in the video how thin the mattress is compared to other hotels!

I agree with the previous poster that the BWPPI bed was just fine. The pillows were not the best. I’m very picky about pillows.

Our kids were about 5’3-5’4 when we stayed at the Hojo with bunk beds. They were comfortable in the bunk beds. We just looked at the Hojo website and they state the bunk beds are comfortable for people up to 5’0 and call them “junior” bunk beds.

We recently stayed at Radisson Blu and those bunk beds seemed larger than normal and my youngest loved them. Lol. (He’s about 5’6) I really wish the Radisson was walking distance!!

The Camelot Inn also had a family suite that has 3 queens I believe plus a sofa sleeper. We stayed in a regular room at Camelot and really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend asking for the top floor if you can.

We have not tried the courtyard Marriott yet. It’s on our list!! If you end up staying, please report back about the beds!

Have a wonderful trip!!
