We're plannin on a trip in July with five people. Myself, my wife, our son, our daughter, and one of the friends. We'd like something with two bedrooms (one for the girls). Anybody have suggestions for a Good Neighbor hotel, preferably in the "across the street" category? Thanks.

I can only suggest RI Maingate and it is not across the street but excellent breakfast, managers specials, free grocery shopping and an easy 1/2 mile walk.

The Desert Inn and Suites has a room option that is basically two queen/queen rooms, each with a bathroom, with a connecting door. You enter the room through a small "parlor" that has a sleeper sofa and TV. If you keep going straight, you'll enter a somewhat smaller queen/queen room. If you turn right, you'll enter a queen/queen room that is slightly larger. The entire suite only has one entrance/exit, so it's not like the girls could come and go without you knowing. The nice thing about this room is that the girls could each have bed and their own bathroom.

Also across the street is the Park Vue Inn. We once stayed in their 3-queen bed suite. It was a large queen/queen room with a separate bedroom in the back that had a queen. The drawback to this room is that the girls would have to share a bed and there's only one bathroom. But, they would get their own room with a door that they could close.

There are other hotels along Harbor that have suites including the Camelot, Tropicana and Carousel. I looked into all of these for our last couple of trips when my sister joined us. The only two I've stayed at are the ones I described above.

It isn't across the street, but the Embassy Suites down Harbor in Garden Grove (not really that far) has a bedroom and a living room with a pull-out couch. You can't really walk from DLR to the hotel (tried it once) but the Anaheim transport serves it just fine and they pick up in the bus area inside the park. The cost for the transport is $3 (or was at least) per person per day. They come often enough.

The advantage to the Embassy Suites is that there are two rooms for people, and they give a really good breakfast included in the price of the hotel.

Best Western Park Place Inn has what is called a junior king suite booked ONLY on their website at no discount, BUT would have 2 bathrooms, I THINK a King bed and fold out sofa in each room - around $208 a night plus 17% tax, and the rooms are guaranteed to be adjoining. You would get a free continental breakfast upstairs at Captain's Kids Restaurant across the street but under no circumstance would I ever go to the restaurant. The breakfast is ok but not very filling. Anyway, that would suit your needs nicely, as seriously, with 5 of you how on earth can you all share one bathroom??

I would go with Hojo's first, but they can't guarantee connecting rooms I don't think - but you could phone and ask them to see. Kid's suite is great but you couldn't sleep 5 adults, as 3 would have to be in a King bed, one on the sofa twin flip out, one on the twin bunk lower, and unless you had a reeeeaaaaaaly small person for the top bunk could it work, lol.

Thinking this out, IS it really important that the rooms adjoin? You guys might prefer a LITTLE bit of privacy so maybe 2 rooms not adjoined would still work.

I totally think it can only be done IF you get to have 2 bathrooms, not kidding.

We'll be staying at Camelot Inn and Suites (across the street from DL) when we go later this month. We have a family suite, which is a King bed plus sofabed in the main room and a separate bedroom with two queen beds/one bathroom. Never been; seems like it might be slightly cheesy, but we have young kids so they won't mind. :) I'll post a review after we get back!

We will be staying at the Camelot Inn & Suites when we go in June, in a family suite. We have stayed there before, and it was clean, and spacious, and very close to the park...just a short walk...under 10 minutes to the front gate. The breakfast is nothing special...cereal, danishes, apples, oranges, milk, coffee, juice, hot chocolate. The beds are a little hard. But we have three teenagers, and love the space it gives us. The pool is small, but I've heard you can see the fireworks from there. I tried to find a close suite at a couple other hotels on Harbor for this trip, just to try something new, but nothing was available. So it's back to Camelot, and we are fine with that. You really can't beat being so close!

I agree with Jack. We have stayed at this Residence Inn and it was awesome. We would take the shuttle in the morning and walk home if the shuttle wasn't there when we came out of DL. Breakfast is great, we used the free grocery shopping many time. Managers dinner was nice, plus it saved us a lot of money because we didn't have to worry about money for breakfast and dinner the days the managers dinner was offered.

When we stayed last we year we stayed in their studio, but we need 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms when we go this year so we are staying in the 1 bedroom with a loft.

Residence Inn or Homewood Suties are our hotels of choice. We never go in July though. There are 2 Residence Inns. the one on Clementine may be a do-able walk depending on fitness levels and ages. RI on Harbor Blvd isn't walking distance. Homewood Suites are there also at the corner of Chapman and Harbor Blvd., not walking distance but Homewood has its own shuttle, so you don't have to rely on ART which you would at either RI. And ART in July can get quite crowded and not necessarily run on time and you may run into full buses which you would have to wait for the next bus (could be a minute, could be a half hour, anything goes in July).

We love all 3 of the properties and have stayed there for years now. We like the complementary hot breakfasts and Mon-Thurs evening dinners. They do have limited times though usually 5:00-6:30. We come back to the hotel for dinner and are in for the night since our kids are preschoolers. I wouldn't think you'd have a problem with ART though until late in the evening in July. We usually ride in off hours.

You also have the option of driving over to the park, but again, quite a hassle in July with traffic and crowds.

I would consider Homewood (if you find you need to look farther out) in your situation since they have their own shuttle, or RI on Clementine if you can walk it as an option to ART = wait for the shuttle in the a.m. and just be prepared to walk if you don't want to waste time hassling with the ART roulette.

Carousel Inn have two bedroom rooms which also overlook the park (view suites), the best one is the one on level 3... They are right across the road on Harbor...
