Hi there! Yes I went to Harambe nights. It is a separate ticketed event. You get a wrist band when you check in. Anyone in the park after closing must have the wristband or they will be asked to leave. The cost was $119 plus tax and that is on top of park admission. I have an annual pass so that makes the cost of the ticketed event easier to swallow.
The event was awesome. At least I think so. The pre show "party" had beer, wine and a cocktail of the night as well as soft drinks and water. There were small appetizer foods on tables set up all around the streets of Harambe. There was a live band and a face painter walking around. With standing tables along the street outside for mingling.
The show it self was really great! The live orchestra was most definitely Broadway worthy as were the singers/ performers. Viola Davis was the narrator and she was wonderful. The only thing I'd like to have seen was a bit less of the movie which was playing on screen for much of the show, and more stage performance.
I loved the after party! The food was plentiful, set up in Tusker House, but on stations all over the street as well. It never felt crowded. Think Boma dinner. That was what the offerings were similar to and very very good. Again beer, wine, rum cocktail as well as soft drinks and water. A very good live band with music through the night and the characters roaming the streets for photo ops. Fruit stands and ice cream carts were open as well as dinner and dessert stations. There were performers on stilts interacting with guests. I thought it was great and would do it again given the chance. On the way out they added a wonderful touch by having some of the very colorful and tall hand "puppets" from the street parade lining the street saying goodbye. It was a perfect site for the end of the night.
I was there with a friend, so to say it was worth the price for just myself is easy. I do think it was worth the price for one or for a couple, my husband would have enjoyed it had he been able to go. But I cannot speak to whether it was worth the price for an entire family.
All and all this type of event is exactly what I will continue to look for. Yes, it's expensive given the fact that a park ticket is also required, but the price for the ticketed event was priced right IMO for the event itself.
