Happy Thanksgiving to my Peeps and other Podcast Listeners

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I will be celebrating with my 2 daughters and son in law. I will get to spend time with my precious granddaughters Julie and Allie. I will be missing my son and daughter in law who couldn't be with us.

I am so thankful to have 3 wonderful children!! We have been through so much together and they have turned out to be 3 terrific adults. My daughter and son in law are the best. I have two beautiful granddaughters.

I am also blessed to know many wonderful people through the DIS. I have gotten to meet many of you in person and I loved every minute of it. I am looking forward to meeting many more of you at DAP and on your vacations here to WDW.

I have a great job and work with a great group of people.

I am truly blessed.

I think good people draw good people and the Podcast is a great bunch of people that has created a community here of people from around the world who are just the best.

I feel very blessed to have found this group - I can describe how helpful this community has been to me in my life - and not just about Disney.

We start tonight with taking Ian to a Houston Rockets Game!! Turkey day consists of Roasting our bird outside in a HUGE Dutch Oven and waiting for the rest of the fam to arrive from the other side of town. Happy Thanksgiving!! This weekend will help DAP get here that much quicker!!

There's usually a parade, but I don't know if they are having one this year. And the indians (sorry, Native Americans) usually stage a protest.

Mostly its all about being with family and eating too much. Just like everywhere else.

There is a parade, and a band concert with all the parade's participating bands, and drum & bugle corps. I missed the parade (first one in years I've missed. grrrrr). Of course the waterfront and Plimoth Plantation are mobbed. Many local restaurants hold special dinners as well.

They hold special dinners at Plimoth Plantation for the holidays, in which you can either eat like a Pilgrim or follow a more Victorian menu.

And yep, the Native Americans hold their Day of Mourning, going up to the statue of Massasoit and protesting what they consider the "European invasion". It really angers a lot of the tourists, but some people have to realize that not everyone has the same opinions about the outcomes of our shared history.

I have to say that working at Plimoth Plantation for many years has really opened my eyes to the different cultural views of things so many of us hold sacred. And while I celebrate Thanksgiving (in my own secular way) with my family, I do realize that there are those who see no reason to honor the day in the same way as my Pilgrim-descendant family.

That being said, I hope everyone had a wonderful and meaningful celebration with those they love!
