Happy Pi-Day!

the cake was 3.14 in diameter, no i dont go to your school but i just happen to know that Pi is the area of a circle

Wow I guess my school's are the only one geeky enough to actually hold celebrations for Pi-day! But we're celebrating it on Friday. Last year we just ate pie, but this year we have a graded assignment to bring in an edible circular object. We have to find the area of whatever it is. We are also having a pie eating contest! :banana:

uh. how do i put this. no. ;) how do you get the 31st of April when the decimal point is after the 3 and not the 1 :confused3 anyway... they taught us that at regional math field day last year.

HAPPY PI DAY!!

Well, I was more looking at the numbers than the decimal point. You're right. I was just looking at the numbers alone.

My friend made cookies and put the Pi symbol on them. I got everyone in the 8th grade celebrating it by spreading the news about it a few weeks ago. Its also save a spider day and my friend's birthday!

all our math clases had pi day parties.
everyone brought in pies, and soda and stuff. it was pretty sweet.

I'm just wondering how Pi day could be in April in Europe or the rest of the world. I know you were all thinking 31.4, but even if you take the decimal point out it's still impossible. It's impossible because there aren't 31 days in April, there are 30. lol

Stop Taling About Pie!!! Im Sooo Hungry Now!!!!!!!!!!!!

gah we havent done pi yet
which is sorta stupid.
as some of us take gsce higher tier exams next year:rolleyes:

Pi is not the area of a circle.
The diameter is not the area of a circle.
The radius is not the area of a circle.
The circumference is not the area of a circle.
Area is the area of a circle.

Area=pi x radius (squared)

basically, take the radius, mulitiply it by itself, and you get the second number, then multiply that by pi, and you get the area.

3.14 =/= pi.

:confused3

My school had a celebration for pi day also. We went down to the gym and were each assigned events the week before. I was the lucky one who had to remember the digits of pi. I remembered about 36. And there was a pie eating contest and an obsacle (sp) course and scavenger hunt and a bake sale. It was pretty boring and un organized though.

So how about yesterday, I went to dinner at mcDonalds and my change was 3.14. It was freaky. I thought it was a sign from god that one of my friends or I would win the spelling bee. It was because my friend Sierra won. She's going to DC

My friend's math class all brought in PIE or CAKES!! So right across the hall they were stuffing their face w/ pie and treats while we sat, staring through the window practicing for those stupid standerdized TESTS! GRR!

Dude, that's awesome! :goodvibes

I'm not sure what Pi has to do with spelling, but it's cool! ;)
