Plan for today was Universal Studios. After a quick breakfast in the apartment we headed out the door. On arrival, we opted for preferred parking as we remembered the walk from the other day. Well, I don't think it made much of a difference as all the car parks seem to be miles away. The main thing is, we were here :sunny: Decided not to bother with all day express today as it didn't seem that busy, collected the stroller and we were on our way.

The first thing we saw was a ton of characters: Shrek, Scooby and Shaggy, Rugrats and best of all... Dora the Explorer  For those that don't know, Dora is a little bi-lingual girl with her own show on Nick Jr. She has been teaching my kids to speak spanish since they were tiny and is very popular with those in the know. In the uk, merchandise is only starting to come through and I knew we would be able to pick up stuff here. Cara and Dean were beside themselves when they saw her and ran over (no shyness this time). I was as excited as them because I didn't know she did meet n greets. "Hola" all round and lots of happy faces.

Jimmy Neutron did not appeal and Shrek had a big line so we headed further back to Twister, picking up Express for Revenge of the Mummy on the way. Twister was good as always and the kids fared well. Charlie at 1 even thought it was funny. Mummy time next. We did the baby swap and let the boys go first. Perfect timing, the Blues Brothers came out while we were waiting to do their stuff. Me and Lyndsay had a great dance and sing along while Cara looked embarassed. C'mon honey, shake your tailfeather with mummy...NO WAY! The boys were out in no time at all. How was the ride? Eeh, so so, bit boring and slow...WHAT? I have been waiting to do this, you have to be joking... well thankfully they were. This is possibly the best ride in Orlando. It has great effects, just enough scare factor, cool roller coaster part, just about everything I could want in a ride. To be very US: totally awesome :cheer2: .I will be back.

Again, not many takers for Beetlejuice so we moved onto Earthquake. Quite a long wait for this, actually it was about 20 minutes but it seemed so much longer. Maybe because you don't move, maybe because the kids got fed up, but it did drag. We were allowed to take the pushchair inside for the first 2 parts of the presentation which made such a nice change to carrying a baby that does not want to be carried and we were able to enjoy something all together. Pretty funny, but maybe a bit dated. We did babyswap for the final bit, which I remembered as a lot scarier but fun all the same. A success all round.

Time for lunch where we split up. James and Dean opted for pizza while the rest of us went for burgers. All tasty and we ordered chilli to make chilli cheese fries...so good. Counter service here seems a notch up from disney, all very tasty.

Moving on, we come to Jaws. I don't care how brave my kids are being, there is no way I am letting them on Jaws so we do baby swap. james takes great delight in making me jump all the way round, shark or no shark ad I come off frazzled and shaken. I know its a fake but it still gets me every time.. great driver BTW, very into his part. We come back to find Lyndsay has won a giant luminous guitar and the kids are fighting over it. Maybe heat and fatigue are setting in, so we move on to....Men In Black. None of the kids are tall enough so we do the singles line as this is going to be so much quicker. I send the other 3 in first while me and the kids cool off in the giant coke bottles opposite. Very refreshing and it seems to calm the kids down. Alex was back first so off I went. No wait at all, I just walked straight on. Well I though I had done pretty well and was feeling pretty smug until the others told me their scores. Aah, I guess I wasn't made for zapping. Next round is Back to the Future and enjoyed by all as the kids are big enough this time. Dean was a bit worried we really were inside a dinosaur and told Daddy when he got out all about it. I love it when magic happens and kids believe. baby swap in hand for the boys so the kids got another go round, lucky them.

Neraly finished now, just ET to go which is so magical and cute. We made it back round to the front and...oh we forgot Shrek, time to go in. No stroller allowed this time, but the line wasn't too bad. The preshow inside was a bit too long for Charlie and I did think about taking him out but I was glad i didn't. All very clever and Charlie laughed when the seat bumped up and down. Really good show. I nipped into a shop on the way out to look for Dora stuff and who is in there? SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS! how cool is that? The kids just missed him because by the time I got back out to tell them he was finished for the day. What a shame but I know what I saw. A Dora pin was secured and we made for the exit. It was about 5 when we left so we had done a full day in the park again. Not good for cranky kids, I know.

I honestly don't remember what we did that night but I know we must have been tired. Maybe some shopping at DTD... anyway, be back soon with part 10. :flower:

Thanks, I enjoyed reading it. I am looking forward to going on The Mummy.

Great report! We loved seeing so many characters at Universal - but lines tended to be a bit chaotic so we didn't get all of them! (Shame we missed Shaggy and Scooby!)
