Happy/Inspirational Christmas stories only...

When my ds was 4 or 5, he saw a snowglobe in Bath and Body Works and loved it. He asked Santa for that and noting else. I waited too long to get it thinking he would change his mind,,hoping really because it was about $60. Well, this snowglobe was all he talked about so I went to the store and they were all out. I was practically in tears and the sales girls were so sweet. They called all the local stores but noone had any left. They took my number and said they would let me know if one turned up. About an hour after I got home, the phone rang and it was the girl from BBW. Someone had returned a snowglobe as soon as I left the store! I ran back to pick it up and the girls in the store were as excited as I was:banana: My ds was thrilled and cherished that snowglobe until it broke lst year:sad2:

Awwww, that is so sweet! And what you remember is the staff at that Bath & Body Works going above and beyond, that is what helps make the memory.

I just did a Google Images search for 'Bath & Body Works snowglobes'...you might be able to find yours on eBay or etsy or something like that (though I think many of the pages if hits I got are for a special promotional deal this season where if you spent so much $$ you also could buy a snowglobe).

Pennymom,

For the slippers, go to the fabric store & buy a bottle of "Liquid Stitch". It is washable--goes on white, dries clear. I have used it to repair hems, put eyelet trim on the bottom of a skirt, etc. Has always held fine for me--no problems at all. I, too, lack in sewing skills & it has been a lifesaver!

:worship: I thank you and my fingers thank you!

When I was a junior in high school, we had a student who had some sort of degenerative disorder. All he wanted to do was go to school and have art class. The father had abandon them, so it was just him, mom, and a sister. Weave (my art teacher) found out that they probably wouldn't have a Christmas, so he talked to the students to see if we could put something together. I spoke to my dad to see if we could give something. He did one better, he was the senior vice commander at the local VFW and got them involved. The VFW paid for their entire meal, and my family and Weave paid for a Steelers jersey for the student. I just remember when he said thank you to me, turning to mush. Apparently, when everything got to their home, the mother cried from happiness too.

 I bet your teacher and the family you helped haven't forgotten this moment either.

Isn't it surprising sometimes what catchs a childs' eye. I'm so glad you were able to get it and I bet those girls enjoyed being able to help you too!

Sewing skills have really dropped off the radar over the years, haven't they?
My mother is a pretty skilled seamstress (made my sis' wedding dress down to the last hand-stitched pearl) and it absolutely KILLS her that none of her four daughters can hem a pair of pants.
:lmao: I get bownie points with mom because I will at least attempt minor repairs and sew buttons back on when they fall off.

Many, many years ago, when I was married to my ex-husband, it was our first christmas. I was 19 years old and was so excited to have my own home and my own christmas tree. We did not have very much money (he was a college student) and when my husband went to the tree lot, the trees left were too expensive so he come home without one.

A week later, while at work, he and his co-workers found a very old artifical tree left in an un-used classroom they were renovating. The boss said they were going to throw it out, so my husband brought it home to me....even though it was about the most pitiful thing you ever did see, I used it for next ten years as my Christmas tree. I still think about that Christmas every year I put up my newer tree.

:goodvibes I will always think that the things which were the hardest to come by, are the things you remember the most and most fondly. We had a rather sad little aluminum tree when I was growing up that we laughed about quite a bit at the time, I miss it now.

My youngest son is adopted from The Phillipines. He came home 3 days before his 1st birthday weighing just 10 lbs. He was the size of a newborn and could only lay down. He was very malnourished and delayed. Over time he blossomed and on his first Christmas home with us, he walked at 21 months old. Talk about a miracle. He is now almost 21 years old.

I think that's wonderful. My sisters have done that for me when we were struggling one year. I know you can't wait to see them all. God bless you for doing this.:littleangel:
Thank You Minkydog. I'm SO excited to see them all on Christmas day. And feel blessed that I am in contact with my niece, we text almost evey day. I understand you're having a tough year, hope you have a wonderful Chistmas

A few years ago, DS6, then probably around 3 years old, kept saying that he wanted a "squeaky hamburger" :confused3 A few weeks after that request, and the day before Christmas Eve, DS8 (then 5) decided that HE wanted a stuffed carrot. I had absolutely no idea what to do, until we were driving past PetSmart .

Santa came through on the squeaky hamburger and stuffed carrot on Christmas! Both boys still have them in bed with them at night, and might be the only kids I know who sleep with dog toys! :rotfl2: I can't wait to tease them about that when they're older and I can tell the story! :rotfl:
Hope you have pictures for their wedding college!

Mom's going to be with us for Christmas this year, which is pretty miraculous. She's got advanced cancer with plenty of complications and we had a really close call this summer. They gave her "weeks" at the time but she's still here with us and feeling relatively good!

My brother is coming up to visit, so we're all going to be together for the holiday. It feels like God has given us a very precious second chance and I'm really looking forward to enjoying it!
How wonderful ! You have no idea, or maybe you do, how much I would give to have my Mother back for one more Christmas. Treasure evey moment.

For MY Christmas present this year I decided to adopt a 4 month old kitten that we had been fostering for a local Rescue. I was instantly in love with him, he's our 4th cat :scared1: AND we still foster!
Right now he's sleeping on my husband's chest as he watches a Thrasher's game, we don't have childen and these are the tender moments of our life.

I'm so happy you and your brother will get to spend another Christmas with your mom. Such a wonderful gift from the Lord! :goodvibes

Mine involves the first Christmas we had with our new daughter and son. They came from foster care and had nothing. I often think of the things that were so simple to us and so amazing to them....food in cupboards, milk in fridge, heat, air, car, tv. So much that we take for granted.

They never had a Christmas, the first one was amazing.

I remember first Christmas with my oldest. I remember it being amazing and as the parent, feeling wowed. It was so different with the other 2....almost surreal. Both were special in there own way, just different.
