Happy holiday weekend for me!

I am starting off this long weekend on a high note. I received an unexpected bonus today for my work on a big software project so... I ordered the Pentax FA 50mm F/1.4!!! I was doing alright with my A 50mm F/2, but the MF was pretty tough at WDW. Now I hope to sell that old one and buy something else.

LOLOLOL I am happy when I have a few dollars left after 2 teenaged daughters pick me clean...which I rarely do.

I am kinda hoping to get some new glass if the patent my DH's company is submitting with him listed as the inventor goes through. I mean yeah - it is HIS $ reward for that patent - but I have had to listen to him ramble on about it for months - so it is only fair - right????

Wouldn't that be pay back for using him as a subject for portrait practice. But if it gets you some new glass.... I'm all for what works.

Congrats, you'll love the lens. The 50mm F2 is probably similar optical quality but it'll be nice to have autofocus and more speed.

Thank you all. I am pretty excited about getting it; especially after I saw how much Groucho used his at WDW. The AF is the main reason I am getting it. I considered getting a Katz Eye focus screen and keeping the 50mm f/2, but I do not do much other manual focusing and I am gaining a little speed with the f/1.4.

I did indeed, it was a great all-around lens for WDW IMHO. I'll have some DL shots for you probably in the next couple days, we arrived in California yesterday (where it got as hot at 107', yowch!) and will be heading for Disneyland this evening, we'll wander Downtown Disney a little then tomorrow through Wednesday will be in the parks. Whee!

I will admit that the 50mm probably won't get quite as much use since I have the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8, which is a good bit faster than the kit lens so I won't need the extra speed quite as much, but the 50mm is just so sharp and the extra speed is still very handy.
