The one in Jerusalem is a menorah, not a Hanukkiah. The one in the photo is based on the menorah that was found in the temple.

Yes, the menorah in the temple had seven lights. Our chanukiah, or Chanukah menorah, has the 8 + 1 configuration.

Happy Day #2!

We had fabulous homemade latkes, but the bakery-bought jelly doughnut holes were not done well. I'll stop by the kosher Dunkin' Donuts in the morning.

Happy Chanukah Night #4!

Tonight's gift for the kids (& me): Tangled 3D!!!

I absolutely loved it. I hope it's a box office success for Disney Animation - they need it. Alan Menken hits a home run on this one.

The three of us loved it (but my wife disagreed). Part of the gift was allowing the kids to get their own popcorn without having to share. That was a special touch for them.

Enjoy. I hope Chanukah has been a happy and meaningful one for all so far.
