There are many moms out there who are both Mother & Father to their children. Enjoy your day & your kids! :goodvibes

I was just about to start this thread. I was thinking about my mama.

She and I have been a team for 28 years now. I've no contact with my father at all ever. When he found out mama was pregnant he told her that he wanted nothing to do with her or me. Taking him at word, she walked away and never spoke with him again. She taught me to ride a bike, bake bread, and spike a volleyball. She taught me to drive and to not hate the man that gave me life. She told me that she loved me enough for both of them. She would go into work 3 hours early so she could leave early to be at every single one of my games no matter where they were and the long drive back. Somehow I always had everything I needed and a few things I wanted. I finally got a "dad" at 18 when she married a man that loved us both. I know that she had to be lonely at time but not many men would take on a woman and her brat. Now I have a mom and a dad but my mama is still my mom/dad. I love you, mama.

Than you SIlly!! I just called my mother to thank her!

thank you. :)

My daughters are lucky that their dad is a part of their lives, but he's much happier being a part time dad.

My son (age 21) gave me the Father's Day card that he had purchased for his Dad. His Dad picked him up yesterday and he was home within the hour, his Dad had something 'better' to do.

I don't get in the middle anymore, or try to make my X see what he is doing to his sons. But it really hurts to see him withdrawing from his kids.

Nice to know that my son appreciates what I do!

PS -- and to all the other single parents out there, it's such a hard job, but so worth it! You're doing a great job!

Happy Father's Day to all the single dad's out there, too :)

Thank you for posting this. I'm not a mom, but MY mom was, and still is- both mother and father. On behalf of her, thanks!! :goodvibes I wished her a Happy Fathers Day today :)

This morning I took my girls to the movies, and the moron at the ticket counter asked me, "So are you taking the kids out before doing Father's Day stuff?" I politely ignored the question and paid for my tickets. While running my credit card, he asked me yet again, "So taking the kids out while your husband plays golf or something?" I looked him right in the eye and said "I'm a single mom just taking the kids out for fun". The look on that idiot's face was priceless.

Yesterday I took the kids to the craft store for their weekly kid's club activity... it was making a picture frame for Dad.

This is something that really bothers me about where I live: yes I live in the midwest, but I am in a big city. There are almost NO activities for children that are after hours or on weekends, everthing is Tuesday at 10 am or something. People here just seem to assume that not only do all families include both parents, but that Mom has nothing better to do than stay home with the kids all day. Not knocking that lifestyle at all, but some of us simply don't have that luxury. So...

Thank you all for this thread.

:goodvibes I don't know where I would be without my single mom!! Happy Fathers day to you all!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you for starting this thread. Its nice to be recognized for being a single parent doing the job of two. I always celebrate Father's Day for myself. Im the only parent the sweetpea has so this is as much my day with her as is Mother's Day.

Thanks to my Dear Mommy in Heaven. Sandra 1939-1983 She was both mother and father to me and my lil Dsis for 19 years.

Thanks... I called my aunt who raised her kids alone and we BOTH gave each other Happy Father's Day greetings! She said that we EARNED it!
