I'm so happy, because it takes the thinking out of Valentine's Day dinner!
We always make a homemade Chinese dinner each year.

Any good menu ideas/recipes?

My 2nd grader made a couple chinese lanterns and brought them to school today. He also wanted to wear "red" to symbolize luck. He's always been big on holidays, but this is the first year he has asked if we can celebrate.

I still haven't decided whether we'll go out to a restaurant, or make chinese at home... I'd like to go out, but when you have 4 little ones, it isn't quite so easy.

Buy a bag of tangerines to set out in a bowl. They bring Good Luck for the Chinese New Year. (They also go well with a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day. )

We are going out tomorrow night. My SIL, who is chinese, is taking everyone out to celebrate the new year. I am giving her a basket with oranges for good luck.

That explains it!!! Last week I went out for dim sum. At the Chinese grocery store there were adorable cards that looked like valentine/combo celebration cards. Brought them home b/c they were cute and my kids fell in love with them and took them as valentines to school. The writing was obviously all in Chinese!!!! I should have just asked someone!
