I heard a rabbi say this morning that the jury is out on whether to spell it with an H or a CH since there is no letter in the alphabet that matches the Hebrew one. I am not Jewish but Happy Chanukah to all who are!

Saw this article from a predominantly Jewish sight about what the holiday means. Even though I had several Jewish friends growing up, I wasn't familiar with some of what was mentioned.

We light two menorahs, nightly. The electric one and the real candle one. We usually try to get everyone together for at least one night. Last night I had 4 of my five kids. DIL had to work and one DS is in another state but will be in town next week. So for last nights dinner I made fresh baked challah, brisket, and potato latkes.

I will make latkes again before the holiday is over. We also made chanukah cookies over the weekend and will make more this weekend. I hope to make donuts tomorrow night too.

The kids usually get a present every night depending on the size of the present.

Mil is coming over on Saturday to see the kids.

We had our latkes the first night. DS has gotten 2 gifts thus far and will get one more on the last night. We don't do a gift everyday, don't want him to loose the focus of what Hanukkah is when he gets older.

My husband and I don't have kids. My Mom comes over every night and we light the candles and exchange gifts. The last night is the big gift. Our dog gets a few things during the holiday. We usually have latkes for dinner on the Fri and Sat of Chanukah. We were at Disney Thanksgiving Week and found a pin with a spinning dreidel on it.

Happy Hanukkah! Today my parents and I are celebrating Christmas with my mom's family and tomorrow is Hanukkah with my dad's family. We couldn't do Hanukkah any earlier because I work nights and worked all last week and last night and tonight we go to friends' houses for Christmas.
