Happy Birthday Tower of Terror!

This day 17 years ago park guests gathered at Disney MGM Studios for an Attraction's opening ceremony. The Tower of Terror came to life for the first time.

Happy Birthday Tower of Terror! You've become one of Disney Parks premier attractions.

Where does the Tower of Terror rank in your list of favorite attractions at the Disney Parks? For me personally it's probably number 3 or 4.

Wow. 17 years. It opened in 1994. I didn't realize it was that long ago. I remember the first time I went on it in 1998, I went on it by myself and I was scared to death. I've ridden it probably dozens of times now and it's absolutely one of my top favorites, I think I would rate it 5 or 6 in my Disney favorites list.

I have enjoyed the 3x I have ridden but I would not be completely honest if I did not mention I still get butterflies in the stomach while waiting in the que. I would give this a top 5 billing, probably right at #5 for me.

I remember the first time I went on it in 1998, I went on it by myself and I was scared to death.

You know...I still remember my first ride on ToT too. It scared the Bajesus out of me as well. I had no idea what was going to happen, when we were going to drop, etc. Now that I've been on it enough it's just plain fun, entertaining, and sometimes scary at night.

I remember that I wasn't scared unless I was in the "seatbelt seat" in the back row. Now that they have retrofitted the vehicles to be all "seatbelt seats", it doesn't seem to faze me as much. Go figure.

I am finding that my body is not being cooperative anymore. Sometimes I get off the ride in a woozy state. Maybe because they've added a lot more drops? Not sure. I made the mistake in CA during my ABD tour to stay on for another ride, and it almost did me in.

I can handle the spinning in the orange Mission: Space, but it's been a while since I've done it. I might have to start taking Advil before I ride these things now!

YAY!!!! ToT is my favorite and I had no idea all these years that I shared my birthday with it's opening!! Woo hoo!

The first time I rode this was in 1995 I think and it was with my parents and my sister. None of us knew what to expect but we all loved it!

I was at WDW with just my mom and there was no way she was going on ToT. I remember seeing ToT for the first time from outside the park and thinking "I don't know if I can do it." Then we walked over and I was really wondering how I was going to get out of going on it...(I was all bravado with my mom about how cool it looked and how I couldn't wait to go on it) When we got close my mom told me I was crazy, but I got in line and was seriously sick to my stomach. I loved the beginning, but when we entered the elevator room, I almost, almost, snuck out the chicken door. I knew I would regret it though and got on. Then they put me in the front row of seats! I was absolutely scared out of my mind. I laughed and laughed during the drops though. I'll never forget it.

Disney theming at it's best! And a great ride! It's definitely a top 10 for me, even though it's been a few trips since we've made it to dhs and even longer since I managed to ride (dh is not a thrill ride guy)! Our toddler is a total daredevil so I'm hoping he will be my ride buddy in a few years. Who knows he may even shame dh into trying some "big kid" rides
