Today is Disneyland's 49th Birthday.

As much as I would like to be at DL on its birthday (especially next year!), I don't think I'll ever be. My dislike of heat and large crowds outweighs my desire.

On this day next year I will hunker down to watch the opening day broadcast DVD and relive the magic!

Crowds weren't all that bad today (granted I parked hopped to DCA as soon as the ceremony was over). It was pretty cool watching all the cms and families holding up the pictures for the mosaic. Also, they will be doing more mosaics around the park--it's called the "Happiest Faces on Earth". You can submit a photo of you (and family/friends) taken at DL or DCA and it might be put in one of the mosaics around the park. You can do it online through disneyland.com or snail mail it in (don't know the address) or drop it off at the park.

I didn't think the crowd was too bad at either park, though I must admit I was a bit too bleary eyed to pay much attention. I was one of the 1400 people in blue shirts holding up pictures. I'm hoping to find a great pic of it from today so I can find out if I'm right on exactly which part I was.

We had a blast, but boy was it hot standing out there for an hour. Afterward we stayed till about 5pm before I just couldn't walk anymore and went home.

I should scan in the little promo material we got this morning. They looke like they will be great. They'll have a bunch of photo mosaics throughout DL and DCA. the brochure shows one of Alice at the alice in wonderland ride, and one of the ghosts at the Haunted mansion

I just went there, and also picked up an envelope at the park. It says you can only upload 5 photos, and the packet at the park says 5 also, but I'm not sure if it's 5 per sumbission, 5 per person, or 5 per address and/or family. So I don't know what the total number each person can submit. It did say that if your picture is used they'll tell you roughly where to find it. My guess is they'll tell you which one to look at. They might say a general area, but I'm guessing all they'll say is which mosaic.

Happy 49th Birthday Disneyland.

I love the photo mosaic idea. We have hundreds of photos from over the years. I must go to my parents' house and get those 1955 photos of my Dad at Disneyland. Can't wait.
