Oh I could not let this thread drop down to page 3. Today is like a national holiday for me, being the BIG GUY's birthday and all.

BTW - he is just a few years older than that. Way back when he released "Mandy" Arista "urged" him to scratch a few years off his real age, which took him just below 30 to appeal to the younger crowd.

Not sure where the official word about that is published, maybe in one of his biographies, but he's begun to talk about it a little more in recent years.

I think he's 61 or 62, but it really doesn't matter much. He sure has got it.

How funny...I was just thinking to myself when I saw the Birthday Wishes Board at the top of the page that I'd post on for my favorite birthday dude.

And, yes, he's 61 this year. The Arista machine churns on today because of great artists like Barry giving them a place on the musical map.

You other Fanilows (I really DISLIKE that term, but Will & Grace has made it well-known) do realize he's going on tour the end of September...?

Hey! Today is our Schnauzer's b'day, too! Max is 4 today.

Not that I'm comparing Max to Barry.

Seriously, I'm a big Manilow fan, and have been since I was in high school. I've seen him in concert twice... he puts on a GREAT show!

CindyGusGus: I've seen Donny in concert too (well, the Osmond Brothers).. However... Donny beat out Barry for me as a teenager.

He has been my favorite for almost 30 years. DH and I have been to everyone of his concerts here Jax. The first one I had to drag him kicking and screaming. After that he was hooked on his concerts. I think one of my most favorite songs is "One Voice".

I knew he was getting younger as I was getting older...I met him when I was 16 and at the time he was 33 years old, so that's 17 years difference. Then I read this thread and he's 58 and I'm now 44...so hearing he is really 61 proves I'm not losing my mind Thank you. Still love him though even if he does lie about his age

Rumor has it that his record company moved his age back 3 years when his first record came out. They thought it would make him more attractive to young fans if he was 29 rather than 32. He was on Larry King 2 or 3 years ago and Larry asked him how old he was, he said "I'm in my late 50's", avoiding the actual number.

The Enquirer published a picture of him last year coming out of a plastic surgery clinic with a long blond wig and bandages on his face! I saw him on Wayne Brady last month, he looks good for his age!

There was a rumor that he had a nose job but not for vanity purposes, it was because he got up in the middle of the night (while staying at a hotel) to do "his business" & he smacked right into a wall, breaking his nose. Poor guy!
