Happy Ash Wednesday to all who celebrate.

Thanks for the thought. I am Christian and do observe Ash Wednesday and Lent, but somehow the 'happy' part sounds a bit off. It is not exactly a celebration, more of a solemn and reflective occasion to me.
I understand. I usually put happy in front of all Catholic observances. Just a form of habit.

I know you didn't mean any harm but you observe Ash Wednesday. You don't really celebrate it. Regardless, may everyone have a blessed Lenten Season to whom it is meaningful.

I switched Parishes this year and Mass yesterday was jammed - I couldn‘t believe it. There was more people there last night than at Christmas Eve (I lectured for Christmas Eve, so I could see very well how many people were there). It was great to see all the people last night - very nice to see.
The distribution of ashes was different at this Parish than other Parishes I’ve been at in the past. Normally the ashes are on your forehead, but this Parish sprinkled them on top of your head. I wonder why? I’m going to a lector meeting on Saturday and I’m going to ask. Enquiring minds want to know. If any of you have Parish that does this, and knows the reason, please post why - thanks 🙂

Sprinkling of ashes was a permitted and used method of distributing ashes during the pandemic last year to avoid personal contact with others.

Sprinkling is used in other countries, even outside pandemic times.

I'm our parish's parish administrator. 😊
