That is a good question. Maybe she's just considered "the girlfriend" and since Mickey is the head mouse in charge, he gets the b-day wishes.

I wondered about that too actually. I just figured it's bc they got to say their first words. Besides, if you're considering the May b-day, it's only 6 months off. They'd be 80 either way.

I think Mickey is focused on and celebrated more (over Minnie) simply because Mickey was essentially Walt himself, his alter-ego. Walt voiced Mickey in Steamboat Willie so when we celebrate Mickey's birthday we are paying homage to Walt Disney and his greatest symbol that represents him and his amazing, amazing empire of imagination and fun!

Happy B-Day Mickey (and Minnie) and to the greatness that is Walt Disney's creative mind!

Mickey's B-Day will continue to be celebrated long after all of our's are forgotten memories. Walt's dream will live for as long as civilization survives. The mouse will never be matched and will never fade, ever. Cheers to America's favorite Mick (no offense to the great Mr. Mantle, we love you too!)

I think it's because when the first two Mickey cartoons (Plane Crazy and Gallopin' Gaucho) were first released, they failed to impress. Steamboat Willie was the biggie, the first one with sound, and it's what made Mickey (and Minnie's!) careers really take off.

If it makes anyone feel better, Minnie Mouse's Birthday is celebrated practically every day now at Playhouse Disney Live on Stage at DCA.

I can't seem to find any info on when Minnie's bday is. I don't think she was thought of as a main character until later.

Minnie's first cartoon was the same as Mickey's, whether you regard Plane Crazy or Steamboat Willie as the "First" cartoon, she was in both, thus having the same birthday as Mickey Mouse.

They had Mickey 80th Birthday pins in the park for awhile now. Since October is when I saw them.
