I'll second that response. Of course, today is only the begining of the BIG PARTY and not actually the 50 year mark. Wonder if they'll do anything EXTRA, EXTRA special that day?

I have been wondering why Disney is celebrating the Birthday starting today. I also thought Disneyland opened in July. (The 17th maybe?) I guess it's like the 25th anniversary of WDW celebration that lasted for 18 months. Oh well - I am glad that we will get to see the decorated castle this summer!

Disneyland itself did open on July 17, 1955. However, I have heard that they started the celebration today because 05/05/05 is actually 50/50/50 backwards.

And from what I understand, most (if not all), celebrations last about 18 months. It's nice because it gives many many people a chance to participate...not just those who are there for that one day.

Well Disney!!!! I wish i could be there for the celebration but unfortunatly its finals week for me. Absolutely can't wait until I go in Sept....ah such a long wait.
