I have a group of 10, including 3 young ones.
For a 9pm show, on an evening MK EMH night this June....what time do we need to stake out our spot for HEA? We want a good spot, but...i have no clue what time people will start finding their spots.

Also..once you find a 'spot'...are people sitting down? Standing? In grass? I'm just not sure what to expect since we always watched Wishes from the Tomorrowland Bridge and never in the center of the hub.....

We have 8pm fast passes for SDMT. Is it unrealistic to expect to ride SDMT at 8pm, and then find a good spot for HEA immediately following?

Any advice is appreciated.

It's opening weekend, we don't really know what this new type of show at WDW is going to take to get a great spot without wasting hours making sure you got it..

go watch move it shake it and that ends about 90 minutes prior to fireworks so get your spot and wait it out. it'll feel like a waste and suddenly you'll be happy you did it. send dad off to get some popcorn and drinks or maybe hot dogs. and picnic while waiting and it'll be time for fireworks before you know it.

But check the schedule, this is for 9pm fireworks if it's later and move it shake it ends the same time then it might not be the best time to go into the hub..

friday and saturday should fill up sooner as locals are able to get in just to see the new show and for awhile, they will be going. I've seen it twice and will be going a few more times this week. it was that good. I won't be doing anything else so I will be taking up room long before you think of coming to the hub to watch to give you an idea.

yes. It is unrealistic to think you can ride SDMT at 8p and then get a good spot for 9p HEA in June.
I would estimate you should be getting a spot by 7p for the 9p show. Like anything new, this will draw more locals and AP holders as well as park hoppers just for the show. Heck, you couldn't ride SDMT at 8p and then get a spot for Wishes at 9p.
Either split up like PP suggested, change SDMT time or abandon one of the two.
Good luck.

We abandoned the 8pm SDMT fast pass, and switched it to 7:20 Peter Pan.....so, we will head to the hub immediately after that, and we'll just get what we get :) Thanks for the advice:)

From what I saw people were staked out fairly early for the show. We got a spot at about 830 and had a pretty good view but there were only two of us, I say if you are there by at least 8 you should be good. Most people do sit but once the show starts everyone stands.

That's actually pretty reassuring to know that you found a decent spot at 8:30

Yeah we got pretty lucky, just off to the left of the castle. Again there was only two of us so we were able to get through the crowd easy. But you'll be fine and enjoy the show!

My wife and I arrived at about 8:30 for the show last night and worked our way into the crowd by the statue of Walt and Mickey. Since there were only 2 of us and folks were starting to stand up, it was possible to get in without disrupting or displacing anyone. When we travel with a larger group, we get there earlier.

On Tuesday, we got off HM at 8:25 and got a great spot in front. Initially people were sitting, but then stood when the show started.

Fwiw we got good spots last night at about 830 (party of 2)
Also by June silver FL resident APs are locked out
