this weekend I will be in the Orlando area and really want to see happily ever after but won't be able to do a day at mk. I've watched wishes from the poly before but I was wondering if there were better places I could watch it from. I'm by myself so it will be just me. I thought about trying to do a walk up at California grill and watch it from there (have done this before) but thought I'd ask people here for their thoughts. TIA

You may be able to see the fireworks, but you won't be able to see the castle projections which are the main part of the new show.

A walk-up to the California Grill can be tough. But there is an outdoor platform on the 4th Floor of the Contemporary that affords a similar view and is open to the public. It is a "side view" of the show without castle projection viewing. But you do get the music pumped in.

As was mentioned above, the new "Happily Ever After" evening spectacular at MK

features many projections on the front facade of Cinderella Castle

in addition to the many fireworks in the show. Since those projections

will not be seen from viewing locations outside the MK park, seeing the

"full effect" of "Happily Ever After" will dictate viewing the show at least once

from a good vantage point inside MK, on Main Street, preferably in or near the Hub.

The Beach at the Polynesian Resort offers a great view
of the fireworks portion of the MK fireworks/evening spectacular shows (At least of the fireworks portion, but not the "castle-projection" portion.)

However, the area with an MK view is now much smaller than it used to be
due to the recent construction of the new DVC on-the-water rooms.

They do "pipe in" the audio of the shows, but it is very, very low in volume.
There are several ground-level speakers along the sidewalk.

They also pipe the audio to the speakers at the Poly pool.

The audio level is better in some places (closer to the sidewalk, for instance) than others (far out on the beach, for instance.)

I marked the area of the beach still open for viewing on the Poly map.

For July 3 and 4, however, I would NOT even attempt to go to the Poly beach
to try to see the fireworks.

More Viewing Spots-

You can see the MK fireworks shows very well from the TTC

(and they pipe-in clear, crisp audio from the show.)

Note: you are not allowed to stand directly in the actual Ferry loading area.

You can see them from the boat-dock and an outside

observation deck near Narcoossee's restaurant at the Grand Floridian.

The Narcoossee's Deck shown is now reserved only for guests of the restaurant.

Good viewing from the Gasparilla Grill Patio overlooking the Marina.

The sound of the show is piped into these areas too.

At the Contemporary, there is viewing on an outdoor

observation area on the 4th floor.

The California Grill observation areas are reserved for patrons that day of the Grill or Bar.

(The audio of the fireworks show is also piped in to these locations.)

(Fireworks shown above are simulated.)

At Wilderness Lodge, the "secret place" to watch the MK fireworks is from the

northern area of the Cast Member (CM) Parking Lot. (No Audio)

At the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds Marina (angle shown on the map below,) some of the view (especially of the "Fantasyland" pyro) is blocked by the now unused Discovery Island in Bay Lake and by the high-rise buildings of the Contemporary Resort.

But, the view from the Ft. Wilderness' sand beach (farther north) is more open.

Still the tree-level can block the views of the lower-firing pyro.

Here are the angles of the views in the Bay Lake area.

Below are the angles of the views in the Seven Seas Lagoon area.

As for viewing from INSIDE the dining area of restaurants (you need ADRs, and most are usually busy during the shows)...

you can see (and hear) them at California Grill at Contemporary,

'Ohana at the Poly, at Trader Sam's and Trader Sam's outdoor patio at the Poly, Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian,

and (if you have access there) the Top of the World at Bay Lake Tower.

I've read about this platform but wasn't sure where to find it! I know I won't be able to see the projections but was hoping to hear something like this because I thought this view would be better then the poly

Wow, what a great detailed response from Robo! Traditionally we've always gone to the Poly Beach, but it sounds like that's no longer a good view. Robo, would you say the view from the 4th floor of the Contemporary is a better view? And is that open to non Contemporary guests?

The view from the Poly beach is still great, it's just that a huge amount of the viewing area has been taken away by the DVC cabins.
However, the Poly beach is seldom very crowded with guests at night (EXCEPT for July 3 & 4, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and a few other super-busy
times) so, if it's a "normal" evening, you can still view the MK fireworks from there.

Anyone can go to the Contemporary Resort's 4th floor viewing area.

But, about the BEST place to watch is from TTC.

I know this thread has been quiet for a while but I was wondering what the view is froma theme park view at the Contemporary. It was always a bucket list thing to see the NYE fireworks from there but between weather, crowds and cost it just isn’t worth it. We are thinking on going maybe in april instead but is the cost really worth the fireworks view from the room? Keep in mind we try to avoid in park crowds at fireworks time and mom loves fireworks.

If you are asking about viewing from your Contemporary Resort room, the view fully varies based on WHERE the room is located.
The higher up the building (better,) and of course, the direction you are facing will make all the difference.

If viewing fireworks is the goal, paying a high premium price for a resort room would not be my first choice.

I hate crowds ( and have a few disabilities related to crowds) I did New Year’s Eve this year at the MK with the dessert party it was doable for me. I also stayed at the contemporary witches helped leaving. If your mom loves fire works and you can afford both a night at the contemporary and the dessert party it has s doable ( just do not think you will do many rides be sides your 3 FP and what every you can do in the first 90-120 minutes the park is opened

No way I'd even waste my time!! The main theme of HEA (for us) is the projections on the castle - along with the choreographed fire works.
It is a great show!

Just FYI, OPs question was from July, so it’s a bit old. (I was typing out a response myself before I noticed!!)
