Happier'n a Tornado in a Trailer Park: A Pre-Trip Journal Updated w/link to TR p 11

I thought having a sensitive stomach was one of those things I just had to deal with...like wearing glasses or having a bulging eyeball or wearing a prosthetic butt or...perhaps I've said too much? ;)

Um, yeah. Said a bit too much. But want to take bets we see someone wearing a prosthetic butt while we're at WDW? Oh, and I have a student with a prosthetic eye. I could tell you some stories about that one. :lmao: Luckily, he finds my reaction hilarious. When it pops out, he shouts, "I'm a pirate." pirate:

Anyway, hugs to your entire family that you all feel great on your trip and that you have a wonderful wonderful time (which you will!).
Thank you so much! I hope you have a great time on your trip too! I know you've been having lots of medical tests, I hope you can truly enjoy the culinary offerings that are found at Disney!

Let me know how those contacts work - its been a long time since I've tried wearing them too & they didn't work for me then - I'd love to try them again.

Yeah, not working so well. What a bummer. I was so hopeful this morning. I had to take them out because every time I blinked, the toric lens spun. Made my vision all foggy, and caused major pain. When I took it out, the area surrounding my cornea was bright red. I've had them out for a good hour and my eye stlll hurts. I think I'm going to just stick with glasses. Which is a bummer, but better than eye pain. I'm sort of disappointed, but after going through a year of trying different contacts and still being in pain ten years ago, I'm just not committed to doing it again.

So tomorrow, I'll talk to my doctor and get him to send my glasses prescription out to the dispensary. Call the dispensary and get them to call my vision insurance and get preapproval. And then order new glasses, which will hopefully arrive before we leave. If they don't, I'd planned on going with only this pair, so no big deal.

Ouch! I have good vision, but my friend got a free sample of color contacts once and let me try one- I was dying to see what I'd look like with turquoise blue eyes! I spent THREE hours trying to get the darn thing in- never got it!!! I guess I'm destined to live with my natural eye color!

Just 2 weeks left for you! I'm so jealous!

Got a present for ya

Yup, just 2 weeks. Well, 13 days now. Yesterday, I did the "Two weeks from right now, I'll be..." all day long. I think maybe my co-workers got a bit annoyed with me.

OK, that is too funny. You know, if I'd know the Greensburg tornados were going to happen, I probably wouldn't have chosen this title. And I've thought about changing it. But there it is. And hey, now I even have a graphic. Now if I could just splice in a photo of my double wide....

Dateline: May 15, 2007

Had to double check that date. Yup, it's the 15th. Time is passing so quickly, I'm not even trying to keep track of the date.

First, a little contacts update. Went to see my nice eye dr. yesterday. Really like him. Turns out my eyes are horribly dry and that was causing all my problems. My toric lens would dry out, then turn on my eye, causing my prescription to distort, and giving me headaches and nausea. Fun, huh?

The dr. pretty much said with the dryness of my eye, it wasn't going to matter which brand we tried, it was going to be a problem with the toric lens. I was ready to give up. He wasn't. He suggested that I just wear a regular contact in my eye.

Without going into a whole lesson about vision and astigmatism, what that basically means is that my vision in that eye will always be a little blurry, especially text. It looks a little shadowed. But I can get by. For a few hours. I can be a recreational contact wearer. Not a daily contact wearer, but if I want to wear contacts for 1 or 2 days a week, or for a few hours a day while I do something outdoors, I could.

Gosh, isn't that optimisitic?

So I'm going to try it the rest of this week. Going to work in glasses, switching into contacts on my lunch hour.

OK, that was just vaguely Disney related... In real Disney related news...

My sister and I have been working on finalizing our touring plans for the 3 days we're going to be at the parks together. The girl dropped Crystal Palace so that we could do MK together! Man, I think I'm going to have to take her to the Main Street Bakery and treat her to a hand dipped Mickey Rice Krispie treat or something. Toon Town, here we come! I've got this dream to see my kids riding Barnstormer with Goofy, so that's my goal. We've got 4 MK days, surely I can make it happen one of those days, right? OK, maybe not. But a girl can dream....

I guess that's about it for Disney updates. Just so busy with end of school stuff. I have my last IEP today and then I can really relax. Once that final paperwork is on its way downtown, then I'm really done with the year. Still steadfastly refusing to start packing until the day before we leave. We'll see how long I hold out....

And here's a layout for today. An older one about Kiah's love for Minnie:

Another great LO! We've not tried Goofy's Barnstormer yet either. This time, for sure, though!

Thanks so much for reading and the good wishes! Only seven more days of school now!

Oh, ya gotta try Barnstormer! Think of the pictures!

Just a little poll:

OK, we're looking at June 6 here. It's our 3rd of 4 days at the Magic Kingdom. Cuz a family just can't get too much MK. I've got 2 separate ADRs, for 2 different meals and need to cancel one of them. I need my trip report readers assistance.

Option 1: Brunch at 1900 Park Fare. Mary Poppins, Bert (is that right? I just wanted to type Dick Van **** there), and Alice. Breakfast buffet. Omelette station. I think it's around 11:15 am. We'd be at rope drop at MK, go to GF for brunch, back to MK for a bit, then do an afternoon break then come back for an evening and maybe meet some friends.

Option 2: Dinner at Tony's Town Square at 5:30 pm. Spaghetti, meatballs. How can you go wrong? We'd tour until early afternoon, go back to swim/take a break, and come back for dinner and the meet.

Opinions? I know which one I want to do, and which one Dan will want to do, but I'm asking for an impartial jury so I won't tell you now. I was going to do all my cancellations last night, but I just can't decide on this one. And I was so close to cancelling the Plaza for lunch, and ended up having my sis and family get their own ADR so that we can all eat there together. Maybe it's a good thing I'm thinking twice before doing any cancellations....

ETA: I am sorry to be so lame at following other pretrippies there. I'm trying, I really am, but failing miserably. I can't be on the computer when my contacts are in, which takes out a chunk of my day, I'm busy at work with end of the year stuff and I've got this trip I'm taking in less than 2 weeks. Hoping to have time to sit and read Sunday (when we're supposed to be going to Dan's nephew's graduation, but that's a whole other story...)

Why don't you keep both. Then when you are actually down there and have have spent a few days at MK, you might have a better idea what you want to do. :scared1: GASP! :scared1: You could even wait until the actual day, and then decide. But that would be adding spontanity to the schedule, which would be very hard for a mega-planner such as yourself! :rotfl:

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I like option 2, but I don't like Tony's - how's that for helpful? :lmao:

What about doing 1900 Park Fare for dinner instead of brunch?

Well, I would get rid of Tony's. It was horrible in December. Ick. :crazy2: If you guys get hungry, you could always get some hot dogs & fries at Casey's later in the day...

Actually, my plan is now to wait until we're there to cancel (after I couldn't decide last night, I just decide to wait until we're there). I just wanted some opinions and advice so I can tell Dan, "You know everyone dislikes Tony's. We should really do 1900."

We're already doing Park Fare for dinner. We're doing just about every MK area restaurant. I'm a breakfast buffet lover, and he's a spaghetti person. Maybe if he promises to roll the meatball across his plate with his nose...

See, this is what I want to hear. :rotfl: Although hot dogs? :crazy2:

OK... what about having an early dinner at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian? I've heard the food there is really good (I've only eaten breakfast at the Kona, so I can't comment on the menu) and you'd still just be a monorail ride away from the MK.

Of course now that I think about your response I am no help at all because this is not a breakfast buffet and I'm pretty sure there's no spaghetti on the Kona dinner menu.

I'm going to stop trying to be helpful now. :lmao:

I haven't been to either places, but I want to try park faire! Sorry, not much help.:confused3
