Hanging out at resort after checking out

We are a group of 6 adults traveling to Aulani the beginning of June. 2 will be leaving to catch their flight and returning the rental vehicle around 11 am, the rest of us don't fly out until 8pm. My fist question is, is there a shuttle to the airport or do we need to order a taxi? My second question is can we leave most of our stuff with bell services and just hang out at the pool and resort for the day? Thanks!

I don't know about the shuttle, but you can definitely check your stuff with bell services and use the facilities all day. We did this recently. Make sure you ask for a key to the special lounge. You are only allowed to use it on day of departure, and are only supposed to use it one time, but it is a locker room and tv area where you can shower and relax a bit before you head to the airport. It worked out really well for us and essentially gave us another day at the resort at zero extra cost.

You can book a shuttle through Speedi Shuttle which I recommend booking in advance if possible. It's a shared shuttle meaning they might pick up other passengers from other resorts on the way to the airport. I think they recommend you allow at least 2 hrs and 45 mins before your flight time for pick up. Here's a link: http://www.speedishuttle.com/ You can also order a taxi - one good one in the area is Charley's Taxi. There sometimes are taxis in front of the resort but only during the day so if you go that route, I recommend booking one in advance.

we were there last week and the concierge told us to take Charley's Taxi because it's a direct ride to the airport. it's a flat fee of $55 even though the driver will flip on the meter anyway, but he (our driver) said to ignore that. he also recommended doing a reservation because sometimes (esp. around morning checkout time) there aren't enough to handle all the guests coming out at the same time.

there were a bunch of shuttles out front but since we didn't take them i don't know exactly how they work.

enjoy your trip! :)

We used the lounge last Wednesday since our flight to the mainland wasn't until 9:00 pm. It worked well for us. We checked most of our bags with bell services and kept a small beach bag with us for the day. They also offer a safe deposit box at the front desk so we put our cash and credit cards there instead of putting it in our luggage that we gave bell services. When it was time to get ready to go we first retrieved one of our checked bags where we had put our clothes that we were going to travel in as well as make up. The showers had dispensers that had shampoo and conditioner, bit it wasn't that good--didn't seem to be as good as the products in the rooms. Next time I will bring my own. There are hair dryers there and they are good.
There were a number of people using the showers when we were there (many of the flights to the mainland leave at 8 or 9 at night). I had to wait for a while since there are only 2 showers (2 each for men and women). You may want to keep that in mind when you plan your timing. We left the resort at about 5:30 and the good news is that the traffic is all going the other way leaving the city so it should be an easy ride to the airport. Also keep in mind that before you check your luggage you have to go through an extra screening where they run your suitcases through a scanner to make sure that aren't taking any plants or fruit to the mainland.

Quick question so we have an 8:45 PM departure.. thinking 5:30 PM pick up would be good and plan on using Charley's Taxi??? Any advice.

we asked the concierge the same thing (our departure was in the morning though), and she recommended three hours. you may or may not run into commute traffic at 5:30 p.m., however, so i would check with the concierge when you get there.
