There was still a month or so until our trip to Disney and my 'travel chart' was complete, homemade shirts and hair bows were made and I needed something else to keep me in the Disney spirit. Since I work as a marketing manager and do some design I decided to send my daughter a letter from Mickey (since she LOVED getting our Mickey Mail--luggage tags, itinerary, etc.). And thus an obsessive pass-time was born :woohoo:

I was planning on sending something in the mail every three or four days but once I made this Tea Party Invitation and the ideas started flowing I couldn't help myself! Next thing I know it's become a daily thing --- oops, now it's AM and PM ;)

The letters and invitations were fun to make but once my creative juices started flowing I began to branch out! A few ideas for cheap gifts came to mind. Oh speaking of which......a few weeks before all this letter stuff came about I'd already picked out and created countdown posters for presents for my daughter to find each morning starting ten days from our trip (mostly from the Dollar Tree so very cheap). I'll get to those later :cool1:

So back to the Mickey Mail---thanks to tips from DIS'ers I bought a carriage pearl cage off of EBay for $4 and my daughter received it in her Mickey Mail wrapped in this letter:

I liked the idea that I could help make my daughter's trip more exciting by building up suspense so I came up with a mission! Somewhere on the DIS boards I found out you could call the red phone booth in UK. So I put the phone number in my cell and planned on working with my husband to call it when my daughter could answer. I wasn't really sure what I would say until I remebered they sold Flake in one of the UK stores so I created a 'mission' for my daughter as a way to surprise her with her favorite candy.

I love that my 8 year old daughter truly seems to believe this Mickey Mail comes straight from Mickey and his friends at Disney World. I love seeing the magic in her eyes and the excitment to get to the mail box each day. She's been keeping all her mail in a flowered box but we plan on going to the craft store soon to get a plan box and decorating it with Disney stickers. We still have 21 days until our trip and she's running out of room!

How much fun!! I would love to do this for my kids but this is a surprise trip! Oh well, maybe next time! Cute job!

How do you call that phone?? I think even my kids would be amazed at this one!

You could make similar surprises for them to wake up to each morning during your trip. If I haven't run out of ideas, I plan on doing that too:)

There are a few things I had plan to get my daughter for this trip but thought it would be more fun for Mickey and friends to give them to her. She's a huge Toy Story fan and always dreamed of going to a real Pizza Planet. She has no idea about the restaurant at HS so the Aliens will be sending her this with an Alien change purse filled with loot for the arcade:

My daughter showed an interest in pin trading but I wasn't sure she really understood it so I created this for her and wrapped it around a new lanyard, a flashing princess fob for the snap, and five new pins. Sorry it's so fuzzy, not sure why.

A few weeks ago I made my daughter her own EPCOT Passport and she became very interested in the different countries represented in the park. I saw someone elses great idea about saying hello around WS and since my girl loves other languages I thought this would be a great activity for her. I sent the letter below with a shoe shaped clip (looks like Cinderella's slipper) then sent a page a day for each country, each with a hole punched in the corner so she could assemble a little book to bring to the park.

In an effort to save time one day I 'borrowed' another DIS'ers awesome work and added a few things to make it work for my daughter. I printed on marbled looking paper and crumbled it up. My only mistake was tying the rolled up 'treasure map' with ribbon from home. My daughter asked, "it's this the ribbon we used for your wedding invitations?" I should have known better:headache:
