Just booked our November trip with our 3 sons (ages 2, 3, and 7). Our oldest uses a wheelchair. We booked the WL standard view non-handicapped because we really need a bathtub for the little guys, but are concerned about space for the crib, wheelchair, etc.... My first choice was ASMu family suite but none are available so we went with WL for the location. Can't afford anything else. On the WL FAQ thread, I read something about all handicapped rooms at WL have king beds, so if your party is larger than 2, you can get an additional room at no charge??? Is this true? If so, how do I go about changing our ressie?

Thanks!

If you have reserved a HA room and the bedding in the room allocated is not adequate for your party then they will include a complimentary connecting room in your reservation. You will not need to do anything to change your reservation it will be automatically included on your reservation details. If you really need a tub then you should request this as some HA rooms will have roll-in showers instead.

I think that all of the roll in shower rooms have a king sized bed. However if you are requesting a room with a tub then you might be able to get a room with 2 queen sized beds in it. Either way you should make sure that when you call Disney they know what your needs are. The operator should put you on hold while they check with special services for your room.

::yes::
From what I have read, the rooms with roll in showers at WL have a king size bed because the bathroom arrangement takes a little more of the space. In order to keep a 3 foot access around things, the king bed is needed. With a single king bed, that room only sleeps 2, plus a child in a crib. Because you would be able to fit your party in a regular room if you didn't need a roll in shower, you will be given a 2nd connecting room at no charge.
The handicapped bathrooms with a tub are pretty much the same size as the non-handicapped rooms, so they can have space for 2 beds. If you need a tub, you will probably have 2 beds, which means there are beds for 4, plus a child in a crib. So, you would have the correct number of people for the room and would not get an extra room.

The 'extra room for free' only comes up if you have a roll in shower room with a king bed and have 3 or 4 people (plus a child in a crib).

There is information in the disABILITIES FAQs thread about Special Reservations, including the phone number.

Sue is right...if you need a tub, then a h/a or regular room both have two queens and you'll fit just fine. There's lots of space in the WL rooms vs. the rooms at a moderate or value resort. I've been in them with an adult size w/c without any problem. ---Kathy
