As my trip is approaching with speed that's hard to believe (only 10 more days), I am finding myself having more and more questions! So I have read that some people have a hard time keeping the hand stamps that are given when exiting the parks visible. What have you found is the most effective way to make sure your hand stamp stays on your hand and can easily be seen? We have park hopper passes and also plan on going back to the DLH for mid-day breaks on our full days, so we will be using the hand stamps. I really hope washing my hands won't be a problem...I would hate to get home from DL to find myself or my bf horribly sick!

We have not experienced any problems after getting our hands stamped. We have washed our hands and even swam in our hotel pools.

I have never had it come off either, but I was reading someone else was told not to use lotion or hand sanitizer on it. Also you can have them stamp a little bit up your wrist just in case.

You will have no problem. We find that we can wash hands multiple times, bath/ wash hair, sunscreen and lotion up. Then when we ride Peter Pan we can see all of the character names that they stamp on your hand. It takes a good 3 days to get it all off!

I too read the post with people talking about the recent experiences of the stamp fading. Since I've never read of that before, I have to believe that it's b/c of the recent increase in purell use (I don't normally use brand names but that's the one everyone is talking about as it's alcohol based to kill virii). I imagine the alcohol base and whatever other chemicals are in it are having a bigger effect than soap and pool water etc have in the past.

When we had hoppers and needed hand stamps we never had any issues with them rubbing off. Even if we did the CM's let us thru. It usually rubbed off on the kids before it did on us anyway. We would swim, use sunscreen, use hand sanitizer, use lotion, they always stayed on.

My very curious 7 year old asked the CM "what if this comes off?" and the CM kindly explained that even if the stamp can no longer be seen with the naked eye, they can still detect it with their "special" lights. Way too "CSI" if you ask me....:lmao:

This info made my worry-wart of a son feel much better!

Thank you all for your help! I suppose I'm just worrying about nothing. I tend to do that, and it can sometimes be a lot to handle, as I'm sure you all can imagine. I guess I just let the few "horror" stories I have heard on here get to me. I would imagine that hand sanitizers like purell would have a different effect on the stamp ink than soap and water would, so I will just try to avoid that if at all possible. I planned on just washing my hands frequently anyway, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a problem. Thank you all again! :)

The ink they use it the one used at pretty much all other theme parks across the US. Disney used to use the blue one for a long time but eventually found out that it fades a lot quicker and was easy to wash off. The yellow handstamp ink could only be removed with rubbing alcohol so you want to avoid anything that is alcohol based. Other than that, regular soap and water won't wash it away but it will fade and eventually go away in 2-3 days. The ink isn't really supposed to be visible as it can be seen with a black light.

The hand stamps are NOT MADE to be seen as they are only supposed to be visible under UV lights which they keep at the stands, so yes the fact you can't see them is actually normal :goodvibes

Before my annual pass days I never had issues with the hand stamp. I don't know of anyone who has had issues.

Take Care

Of course, it *can* be seen. It's super-neon when it's fresh, and fades a bit. We've been able to see it days after we get back, even after showers and water from Splash and Grizzly.:lmao:

OP I don't think you need to worry, but I don't think everyone saw the post we saw, where it was an issue and CMs have been telling people to not use hand sanitizer blah blah blah.

Just make 'em pull out the special light (I've never seen them actually use it) if you can't see it anymore.
