Does anyone know of the area? We have a house rented there starting 03/21, is there a walmart/target/grocery close by? Any shortcuts to the parks?

Thanks
Heather in Nova Scotia

That is the neighborhood we rented our first home in and got married there out by the pool! Its a great neighborhood. 27 can be a bit of a bear to get on to from the neighborhood... but if you exit the neighborhood and go right up 27 there will be a publix on your left side and a small strip mall, and if you keep going just past 192 up 27 you will find a super walmart on your right hand side!

Have a great Vacation!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Ok correct me if I'm wrong, we stayed in Lindsfield last time, and went to a super walmart on the 27, it was near a wendy's and autoparts place up past it on the right, so if I were to go to Hamptons, I'd keep going on the 27 and not turn back onto the 192 where I came from Lindsfield?

When you get to the intersection for 27 from 192 instead of going north on 27 to Walmart ( near the exit ) you would go south on 27 to get to Hampton Lakes, about 3 or 4 miles or should I say 4 or 5 km and on your left. There was a new road being built last year and I don't know if that would work for you to get to Disney faster. I think it's called the Western Way ??? Someone else may be able to answer that part.

Fellow Nova Scotian headed down on the 28th Feb.

Heather you are correct you will not be getting back on 192 to go to Walmart you will be staying on 27 and pass 192 and walmart is right there on your right by the Wendys, Taco Bell, and a Gas station.
Also I can suggest the fruit stand on your right, just before the walmart too! They have some great fruit and fresh juice.

Thanks you all! Sympatico, please let me know how your trip goes, are you as anxious as I to escape these chilly NS temps, however not much in the ways of snow this year!

FLParadise Villa, thanks for your help, I'll definetly try out the fruit stand, I love fruit, we have a blueberry farm here in Nova Scotia!

Heather, if you have a blueberry farm you must be from between Truro and Amherst. We're from southwestern nova and we've been getting hammered with snow. We had snowsqualls that dumped 10 - 15cm per day last week and blizzard like winds to go with it. This week has been cold but only a few cm.
We're staying in Windsor Hills for 4 nights then moving down to Port Charlotte area for 6 nights. We've stayed in Lindfields a couple of times, out on 27 at the Palms, Grand Reserve in Davenport and Windsor Hills in Sept. We love staying in vacation homes. Hope you have a good trip. It looks like the temps in Florida are moving up this week and next but hey their coldest is warmer than it is here.

Hampton Lakes is a good community and apart from the Walmart just north on 27 you will also find an Applebees, a nice independen=t eatery called Kopellieis bith near the Publix mall at Sand Mine Road -there are traffic lights here so you know where it is .If you go south a bit you will find a Cracker Barrel,Beef o Brady's and Wendy's .Go into Chamopims gate you will come across a Chili's and a great Chinese pus a french creope restaurant for something different .A bit further south towards Haines City there is a great restaurant used by locals called Manny's which I thoroughly recomend .
If you want an Italian meal without going too far back along 192 then try Brunos just opposite Light house Key near the west end of the 192 brilliant food great service -they deliver too.

Thanks all for the info, I feel well informed of my surroundings now!

Sympatico, yes we live in Cumberland County, when you go through the toll booths on the 104 hwy you'll see our blueberry fields on your left right through to the next exit, Westchester, which is where our home is! Yes the temps will be a welcome change from the NS weather, and the constant wind chill!
We always rent vacation homes as well as we can never get a good rest in a noisy resort, although we'd love to experience on site at Disney I think the lack of sleep would do us in! Have a great trip, I will look forward to hearing a report!
