Looking for a hotel to stay at pre and post cruise near the Miami port -- came across this one on Trip Advisor that had great reviews and is near a mall.

Anyone stayed there and can give a review? Or if you have a better choice, let me know.

Thanks.

I can't comment specifically on that particular Hampton Inn (they're very consistent, so I'm sure it's fine), but I can tell you about the location. Know that Brickell is a business district, so there are some restaurants (mostly high-end) but it does not have a tourist/beach feel.

We stayed at the Conrad pre-cruise last year which is only a couple of blocks away from the Hampton; it's convenient to the port, we used Uber and it took less than 15 minutes to get to the port. Theoretically, you could take the free trolley to the port using the Coral Way line, it looks like there are two stops that are close to the Hampton at either 1105 Southwest 2nd Avenue or 998 Southwest 1st Avenue.

Thanks. We are driving down, so will have our own car.

I like Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon. Shopping center with grocery (wine and beer) Starbucks, and a few restaurants and pharmacies in the area.

Stayed there in March 2015 on our last DCL cruise. Flight ended up being cancelled, rebooked and we didn't get to the hotel until 2 am (about 9 hours late). Left for the port at 10 am. Room was great, breakfast quick and yummy. There is a Publix a couple of blocks away in case you forgot anything. Would stay there again, but honestly preferred the Holiday Inn at Port of Miami. Hotel isn't anywhere near as nice, but nothing like openning up the blinds in the morning and seeing the tops of the cruise ships waiting for you.

We stayed there just a few months ago. Breakfast was great. Room was clean though our air/heat didn't work the best but it wasn't a big deal for us. Staff was great.

It is a business district area so not super touristy and definitely no beach nearby. However, there were a few good restaurants nearby we hit up (Coyo Taco and Piola), there's public transportation nearby (which we used so can't comment on parking as we didn't have a car), and there are two Publix and a CVS within walking distance if you need anything.

Also, you probably won't need it since you have a car, but I'll comment in case anyone is interested - they use a third party company for a shuttle to the port. It was one of the cheapest options when I called around before booking the hotel - I think adults were $8 and kids were $5?

Any other questions feel free to ask.

Hmmm, I wonder if we book a post cruise stay also they'd let us leave our car there -- although I think their daily parking is more than the port actually

This was my second choice. Is this the one you stayed at: Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton - Miami Airport / Blue Lagoon. About how far is this from the port?

Thanks to all who posted their experiences!

Yes. I don't know exactly how far as I took the shuttle and we stopped at the Hilton to pick up as well. No more than 15 minutes I think if you go straight there.

Looking at trying to find a hotel that would have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and a shuttle from hotel to cruise port...would this fit the bill? We have 5 kids and renting a car and bringing car seats (although we need fewer by that point) is a step I was hoping to skip.
TIA

They have a complimentary shuttle from the airport and the shuttle to the port is $10/person (or it was in 2017).

Some great tips for everyone on here. Thanks.

Check out the Epic Miami. We've stayed there and the pool and the service (and the view) were absolutely amazing. More or less a 10 min cab ride from the port... There's a CVS and a Whole Foods at 2-3 min by foot from the hotel. We had found a deal online (it was 165$/night if I remember correctly).

So I ended up booking Blue Lagoon (I know -- but got a great deal). The reason I went with them is they have free parking as opposed to $26/day at Brickell. They also gave us a free upgrade to a mini-suite with our AAA discount so we could have a walk-in shower (I'm out of the bathtub phase and don't like stepping over the high rim to get into the shower). So far we have booked all Hilton or Hampton hotels for our road trip and I am very much enjoying their treatment and courtesy of email replies. I just booked one in Key Largo that got good reviews, too.

Thanks again.
