I saw a great house in this area and I would really appreciate it if someone could fill me in on this neighbourhood. I understand that Davenport is more secluded than other areas but is that just because it's a new development or because it's out in the boonies? Also does anyone know if Westhaven is at the far end of Davenport (as in farther away from Disney?).

Thanks for your help!

You are leaving in three weeks and you don't have accomodations secured yet  ? You are brave :) !

I'm crazy but not that crazy!:lmao:

Dh and I are shopping around for our Christmas vacation. We thought we'd look into houses as there will be potentially 9 of us and we had a helluva time finding reasonably priced accommodations for just 6 of us.

Davenport is a very big area and covers a great deal of communities and it isn't really out in the boonies anymore.West haven is a small community in the Champions Gate area of Davenport and is handy for the I-4 and getting to Disney.

Were you looking for private rentals for your upcoming trip, or were you looking at resorts? We have a family of six and have no trouble getting good rates on rental homes.

We have stayed at Windsor Hills, Emerald Island and Westhaven. While WI & EI are closer in mileage, We really liked Westhaven the best. :woohoo: I think the homes are more upscale there. It only took us about 13 minutes from the time we left Westhaven until the time that we parked our car in a WDW parking lot. It was nice to be away from the busy area right around WDW. There is a Publix near by for shopping. There are not a lot of restaurants by Westhaven, but you can get back to 192 in a short amount of time.

We were hoping to find a rental home but I can't seem to find one that dh and I can agree on. Two other factors (#1 we want to go during the Christmas break and #2 Dh is cheap :rotfl: ) really limit what we can get. I just got an e-mail from an owner saying that the price quoted on her site was for low season but doubles during Christmas. :( Sigh. I guess the search continues! I'd love to get any ideas of places if you have any that your family has been to and loved.:)

Here is a link to the home that we rented last year from Dec 16-23. :thumbsup2 The owners are Judith & Nigel Nicholls. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 They are very nice and easy to deal with. We had our crew of 6 stay there and it was great. The pool and hot tub were wonderful and the garage is a game room.
