Hamilton Airport??

This is the first time I will be flying out of Hamilton Airport. I usually fly from Detroit or Toronto. Is it a big airport? How much time should I allow to check in. Last time I went to Fredericton out of Toronto, I got there 2 1/2 hours early and barely made my flight because the check in line took over 2 hours! When I came home I only had to arrive at the Fredericton airport 30 min. early because it is so tiny and just walked up to the desk - kind of like Windsor airport. Anyway can anyone tell me about Hamilton??

Hamilton airport is extremly small. There is only a few airlins operating there(West Jet, US air and now I believe Can jet) You park their for I believe $45 per week. The wait should be very minimal. You have to walk outside to board planes and climb up stairs. Very old fashion but great if you do like crowds.

I love flying out of Hamilton. Its only 3/4 hour from my house and is small and easy to get around in. Your wait may not be too long, unless you are the last one in line, however even if that is the case it shouldn't be more than 1 hour.

You do walk onto the tar-mack to board your plane, which is always kind of neat and security is quick and easy as well. It's nice to be able to park and be within eye distance of your plane.

I wish I could always fly from here, but unfortuantely we are going out of TO in two weeks early in the morning so we need to stay overnight there before flying out.

This is great news. I would love to fly out of a small airport (Fredericton was like that). Beware if you are flying out of the new terminal at Pearson. Of course it was newer when I went but so disorganized. When I finally got to the check in desk (the line wound around the corner) after waiting 2 hours, the guy at the desk started yelling at me that I needed to be there 30 mins. early because my plane was going to start boarding and I still had to go through security. I said "30 minutes - I've been here 2 hours!" He says "really" and I said "look at this line!!!". Anyway I ran to my gate and the plane had a slight delay for boarding and this little old lady was sitting next to me in her wheelchair waiting so patiently. She said she had been there for hours and that her plane was supposed to board 2 hours ago. I looked at the sign and it said her plane was going to board in 1/2 hour so I asked if I could see her ticket. I brought it up to the desk and she was at the wrong gate (and airport personnel had put her there). Our desk agent called the right gate and they had been looking for her - our agent had to actually run with her in the wheel chair!! What a mess - anyway I felt good after that because she looked over her shoulder as they were whisking her away and she said "I'm so glad I met you!".

Sorry this was so long - thanks for the info - I'm glad I booked out of Hamilton now.

We flew for the first time out of Hamilton airport this past Nov and we loved it! Everything went pretty smooth (except they checked MY luggage and then "frisked" ME and not DH) ! lol
We just live about 10-15 minute drive form the airport so we found it a real luxury compared to YYZ!

We have flown out of TO many times and I agree that the staff just are not up to par - although they do have to deal with thousands of people each day. Hamilton staff are all very friendly and welcoming, even the security people are not intimadating.

We still flying out of the old terminal at Pearson, I was hoping to get to the do the new one, but that will have to be another trip I guess.
