The cruise we booked is one of the Halloween cruises. I searched but didn't find much info here. Please share your experiences.

Also, what about costumes? Will it be hot on the ship (we will be cruising from San Diego. That time of the year can be oppressively hot and humid here)? I'm trying to decide if I should go all out for us for costumes or if we will be happier just wearing some haunted mansion gear and maybe something cutesy for the littlest ones. Complicated costumes can be hot. We are not big dress up people; I'm usually a beekeeper for Halloween just because I keep bees and already have a bee suit, lol.

Any other tips, suggestions, or what have you is great. Would love to see your pics, too. :)

They set up a Halloween pumpkin tree in the lobby atrium and have someone tell stories about Halloween. There's a few decorations around the ship, window decals, etc, but nothing over the top. Halloween itself actually fell during our cruise so I'm not sure how different it is for the other Halloween on the High Seas cruises, but we had trick or treating around the atrium and a character costume/dance party. Lots of people dressed up, and later in the evening they held an adults only costume contest.

We did a Halloween cruise a few years ago (Southern itinerary on the Magic). Our cruise was not on Halloween itself, but a week earlier in the month.

Lots of kids and adults in costumes, but not every day. There were two Halloween events/afternoons with shows in the Atrium and trick or treating for the kids - CMs in different locations handing out candy. We did not attend the adult events, so can't speak to those.

Disney themed costumes and family themed costumes (or both) are common. We were the Darling family - I was Wendy, DH was John and DS was Michael. My dad was adult Peter Pan (think portly Robin Williamsish version). Nana could not be convinced to dress up as Nana ;) and abstained. We got a LOT of attention from CMs and have some truly amazing photos with Peter Pan, Hook and Smee as we specifically wore our costumes for those meet and greets.

The only person overheated was DS as he was in fleece footie pajamas (only pink pajamas I could find!) and he danced like a fiend at the Atrium party.

I think it was about 50/50 as far as people in fancy costumes vs plainer/easy costumes. And probably about 50/50 over all people in costumes vs not in costumes.

Some families went super all out with matching costumes. I have a dress that looks like Han Solo's outfit and my son wore fleece chewbacca pajamas. I remember a family who all wore incredibles shirts, and then another family was all Mary Poppins'ed out.

Like a pp said, my son was hot in his Chewbacca fleece pajamas, but really only at the dance party when surrounded by lots of other people - he was fine at dinner. (Temp wise, I was cold at dinner without a light sweater on our Canada cruise).

We did Halloween last Oct (Halloween was a few days after we disembarked, spent the actual holiday at Magic Kingdom)! Ad mentioned above, ship decorated with pumpkins, there is a pumpkin tree in the atrium that "changes" throughout the week. There was generally a story-telling program in the atrium every evening (very crowded, wow)! We were on a 7-night cruise, so we had pirate night and a costume night. Both nights, kids and adults were decked out. For costume/Halloween night, they put up some window clings in your cabin. My family (4 of us and my parents) all dressed up as the seagulls from Finding Nemo--got A LOT of attention for guests and CM
.

We were on the Fantasy on actual Halloween last year. It was REALLY crowded for the Halloween parties. I don't know if it was because it was actually Halloween or not. We went to the 1st party and it was really crowded, so we thought maybe the 2nd party wouldn't be as bad. It was even worse! It was so hot and hard to maneuver through the crowds that we just left since we'd already been to the 1st one. We still had a lot of fun, but I think my daughter was a bit disappointed because Halloween is her favorite holiday and the crowds were really frustrating. Thankfully we had done MNSSHP the night before our cruise and it was super amazing as usual, so she was fine with it all.

We dressed for relative cool comfort, ease of packing as well as looking for a suitable costume for our travel group. We used shorts, tee shirts, silk pajamas and a bath robe (which got a bit warm). The events are pretty crowded so something that allows free movement is advised. We had a great time enjoying all of the different and fun costumes families and people brought. Dinner that night is a great time to begin the party and go all the way to the late night adult contest. Be fun but practical IMHO.

Here's a photo of our group with the famous Chip and Dale Dancers. :jester:

It is a good time for the kids but as you can see from the pictures...................madness. Especially when they start handing out the candy

Great pics and costume ideas! It looks like fun. We've done both MNSSHP and Disneyland and DCA Halloween parties and for the most part enjoyed them.

I was thinking of dressing up as The Master from "Manos" The Hands of Fate. I told my teenager she should be Torgo but she refused. Killjoy.

OMG, I think we were on the same cruise! Were you on the Fantasy Oct. 22, 2016 eastern Caribbean? Either that or I've seen your picture before, LOL! Loved your costumes however it was I saw them :thumbsup2

That photo is from a Sept. 2014 cruise on Halloween day. I've posted the photo on this forum a few times. Makes me laugh every time I see it. That was one of the most fun evenings I've had in years. Miss July '75 and I did enjoy a Halloween cruise in 2016 but we didn't dress up that time. Our loss.
