I have been trying to get my mom to come with me to Disney World. I like to go in May, but she can't due to work committments.

So, I was thinking of going in Oct.

According to easywdw the week of Halloween is the best week in Oct to go (Oct 26-Nov 2).

Has anyone gone this week? Is it really the best week?

I've been there the week of Halloween and the week before in the past and they seemed fairly similar to me. If you're interested in MNSSHP, then that is likely to be busier and busier the closer you get to Halloween. So for MNSSHP, the parties on Halloweeen week are likely to be sold out (albeit there is a good chance the ones on the week before Halloween will also sell out).

Thanks, figment_jii. No MNSSP for us, just looking for the lowest crowds of the month.

I was there for a couple days last year at Halloween. I didn't even think the party was that crowded, though it was sold out. Crowds were generally low and I had a great time. Really, all of October is a good time to be ther. It's my favorite time to go actually.

Keep in mind that MK is much busier on non-party days because of the limited ability to see MSEP and Wishes. The last week in October will probably have 4 MNSSHP. I think the lowest crowds in October will either be the first week or the last week. It will be much hotter and more humid at the beginning of the month.

We found low crowds the first week in October 2013..we were there Oct 1-8th. Crowds picked up a little over the weekend (TOT 10 miler weekend), but even with that the crowds still weren't bad.

The first week (up until the weekend) of October has always been one of my favorite weeks at Disney. Very low crowds, decorated MK for Halloween, and food and wine festival is happening. After that week fall breaks start happening, they are getting more popular every year, and Disney gets busier every year in return.

I've been in about all the weeks of October, including OP's week. As others have pointed out, MNSSHP will be crowded, but if OP has no interest in that, there should be no effect on crowds otherwise. These days we tend to have to go during the first full week of October, which is our (and many other school systems) fall break. That first week can get somewhat crowded with the combination of fall break, Columbus Day weekend at the end of it, and some conventions that for whatever reason schedule themselves during this period, but nothing like summer, major holidays or spring break season. Comparatively, we've found that last week of October to be much less crowded than the first couple of weeks.

An additional bonus is that central Florida can be a bit cooler and less humid in late October versus early October, which is usually still pretty much like summer.

Oh, I should also say that there was another full weekend after our trip before Columbus Day. Fall break crowds hadn't really started showing up by Tuesday the 8th (Columbus Day was the following monday, the 14th). I would imagine that by the 10th or 11th, though, crowds were heavier.

I certainly hope it's the best week to go, since we just booked it a few days ago!

I know to expect the MNSSHP to be pretty busy, if not sold out, over that week. And of course, weekends are likely to be pretty busy at EPCOT, with the Food & Wine Festival ongoing. But we went in October (many moons ago) and thought the weather was perfect, the crowds were low, and it was overall a perfect time to go.

I can't wait! :)
