Hello everyone!! I need some help! I have been reading both the Halloween and Christmas super threads and while I was 100% set on taking our next trip over Halloween (which happens to be my birthday) Christmas time is now looking like just too much fun! Which would you pick? For Halloween we would do October 28th-ish to November 5th-ish. And for Christmas.... No clue? We don't have kids in school or anything to worry about, and both of us can take whenever off from work. SO torn!! :confused3

I would also like to get DBF involved with planning this trip. He's only been to DL once as a little kid, so hes really not sure about anything and just agrees with EVERYTHING I say, lol. What does your DH/DBF like to plan? I know food will be a good one! And were going to spend a few days outside of the parks, he can pick if we go to universal, knotts, seaworld, etc... Any ideas would be great!! :goodvibes

I did both last year and Christmas is super magical, but I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!! It is so unique. The Trick or Treat Party if phenomenal. I think I marvel in the Halloween decor more, maybe since EVERYWHERE decorates for Christmas. I'd personally do Halloween every year...and Christmas every couple of years if I could.

....if you do go for Christmas, the Holiday Tour is neat. Especially for the front row seats to the parade with hot cocoa and a gingerbread man in hand!!

ETA: DH likes to plan.....NOTHING!!! :rotfl2:

My husband is like this about everything. Especially about Disney - he's not as excited as I am - oh well... Last time we were at WDW, he finally said " I just saw a bird and I wasn't sure if it was real or animatronic, so I know it's time to go home." :rotfl:

I've tried to involve him in the planning but after almost 20 years together, I know it's a waste of time. I've learned to enjoy it - just think, you can be in totally in charge!

I agree with 3 Minnies, my DH plans NOTHING!
He agrees to EVERYTHING i say! LOL

We like both holidays! Last year we did Christmas, and this year were doing Halloween, if I could do Both, I WOULD!!!

It's beautiful both times of the year.
Halloween is just amazing with all the fall decor and the special lattes at the cafe are yummy too. :)
The Halloween party is also a must do!
Dont forget to dress up, you will have so much fun trick or treating!

X-mas is also beautiful, special drinks are around like the eggnog latte. mmm.
or my favorite, the chocolate mickey gingerbread cookies... Must Get!!

So pretty much its up to you and when you want to go. You will have a great time either one.

It really depends which holiday you prefer. They are both absolutely phenomenal. I absolutely love Halloween, but would probably choose Christmas. They are a lot more Christmas related activities around the park as well as a lot more holiday decorations through the park. There is also a Christmas parade and fireworks show(I beliebe), where as Halloween does not. The haunted house is decorated differently as well which is pretty neat.

Both are amazing. I prefer Halloween but find more work is put into Christmas.
Good luck!

Halloween DOES have special fireworks nightly and HM is decorated for both holidays.

I love Halloweentime at DLR, and, in fact, I have grown to appreciate it much more because of the wonderful pictures provided by various DIS-ers in our "Halloween at DL" super thread. Those photos have shown me that I missed out on seeing a lot of little details, and I need to take many more photos next time! I also love that they are doing much more with Halloweentime each year.

It really does boil down to which holiday you prefer at the end of the day, but Prettyprincessbelle (Courtney) summed it up perfectly last year when she said that Halloweentime at DLR is fun, but at DLR during the holiday/Christmas season, "if you close your eyes [and don't see anything], you can still feel the Christmasy in the air." The Christmas season at DLR is such a sensory overload - in a good way. It's not just the beautiful sights and the decorations. It's the sounds. It's the tastes. It's the smells. It's the specialized holiday music in each land. It really is an all-encompassing experience. It's highly immersive, and there is a special element of 'magic' in the air during that time of year that I don't notice during Halloweentime (when it is not as immersive).

I would say that there is an overall 'feeling' that you get when you step into DLR during the holiday season that is not necessarily there (at least not in the same way) when you step into DLR during Halloweentime. You can see that the "Disney at Christmas" super thread is super popular - there is something about that time of year that really captures people and fills them with joy and merriment and it shows in those beautiful photos that people have shared in that thread.

Whichever one you choose, you must come back and post lots pictures in either the Halloween at DL or the Disney at Christmas super threads!! And either way - you will have a fantastic time!!:cool1::cool1:

And Albort mentioned a NEW HALLOWEEN PARADE this year!!!

Was at both last year, if they are doing a Halloween parade thats awesome. I liked Halloween more, still warm enough to do Splash Mountain. and we went in late Sept. and it wasn't very busy.

Early December was nuts, but that was also on the candlelight processional Saturday. Both have their strong suits. You can see HM Holiday at both, Small World holdiay was great and so was Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy. Hard to pick in the end.

Cool! That actually makes me wonder if they will be removing something else (another piece of entertainment) when they do the parade. The last time the Halloween parade happened was 2007, right? Or was it 2006? And then they stopped the parade but added in other things. So I wonder if once they reinstate the parade they will take away something else. I hope not. It would be cool if they just kept adding more stuff for Halloweentime and not taking anything out, because I think by doing that they could be on the way to making the Halloweentime season much more immersive and all-encompassing (like the Christmas season is). They would have to add many more decorations throughout DLR as well - to really make it feel like Halloweentime all around.

Well, we should find out what the exact Halloweentime schedule/agenda is going to be in either late June or early July, and then we should get the whole Christmas season schedule by late August. So we don't have too much longer to wait!:cool1:

I'm hoping it'll just replace the Celebrate Street Party!!! I think I'm one of the few that enjoyed it, but not a "must see for each trip". My mom really wants to go to Halloween at Disneyland...not sure if we can make it this year. I have a lot of trips planned already this next year.

I've only been to DLR during Christmas and it was amazing! Plus, the holidays layovers at IASW and HM were sooo cool. I definitely think you should go during Christmas.

As for planning, DBF doesn't like to do anything either. He leaves everything up to me. But planning is half the fun ;)
