Hello! :)

My partner and I will be visiting WDW this Autmn/Winter to view locations and options for our 2011 WDW wedding.

I've not visited WDW since I was little, and he ahs never been, so I'd like some advice from all fo you experts.

---

We will be traveliing during school times so we can take advantage of lower prices and less crowds, but which season is more impressive at WDW?

He would like to see halloween, as the DLRP decorations are fab, and he's hoping to fit in a Universal Horror night! :scared1: :sad1: :scared1:

But I would love to see the caslte lit up for xmas, and also get to see holiday wishes. princess:

Also, would there be any chance of getting to swim in november/december? As a bit of sun would be nice! Which makes me think perhaps earlier may be better for heat. When is better for dryer weather though?

----

And - i know the UK site currently works out a lot cheaer than .com but as we will be visiting again next year for our official planning session, I would be easily swayed into getting APs if it would make sense money wise. What re your suggestions....

This is the debate we're having too, Halloween is winning :D
How about you go for Halloween & get married near Xmas? The lights etc would be lovely for a wedding!

Tempting...although I think we'll have a spring wedding.

Why is halloween winning for you and yours?

Well ordinarily you could visit end of October/beginning of November and do both, but Disney made that a bit more tricky this year by pushing back the date of the Christmas celebrations to nearer the end of November. We were there until 16th November and all the trees and decorations at both the parks and resorts were up. MVMCP started on the 10th November this year (which is what heralds the switch-on of the castle lights and Holiday Wishes), but the other special events such as Osborne Lights at Hollywood Studios, Epcot's Candlelight Processional and the Jingle Jungle Parade at Animal Kingdom didn't start until 28th November.

Because we're a bit weird! :lmao: Love all things Halloweeny!
Mainly we've both always wanted to check out Halloween in the US, plus the Horror Nights at Universal look amazing! We're going in May but already talking about booking for Oct, the time after that will definately be Xmas. Xmas at Disney would be extra magical! I'd say if you fancy a romantic trip go for Xmas, if you want fun & scares go for Halloween :)

if your having a wishes wedding you get annual passes when they send the contract back and I'm sure even escape bride and grooms get annual passes now if i remember.

We had a wishes wedding so got them anyway

Yeah, but our trip this year will be like 18 months out....so we wont have them then.

Would be ready for us for the wedding and hopfully planning session too though. :) so maybe I shouldn't get them this year.

Is your PS before or after you get a contract?

planning session is after you sign the contract and get assigned a planner, they say 6 months out from the wedding as thats when you can lock the prices in

Well alot of people on here are saying that they cant save money by booking on the US site, however I think you can if you can apply a good discount code.

Just for an example, for our forth coming visit, I booked via US site, I then applied a AAA (our AA) discount which saved me 15%. Then a few months later a code came out for AP holders, I applied this and it saved me 40% on my accomodation costs, when we arrive I will also be buying "tables in wonderland" card which will save money on dinning.

Due to the savings on the accomodation my AP has paid for it's self.

If you do book via the US site and then have to cancel I believe you get a full refund and you dont have to pay (other than 1 night) in advance (room only). If you cancel on the UK site you loose your deposit, however far in advance you cancel.

I think you need to keep asking lots of questions and work out figures for both sites and see which one you are happiest with. There appear to be good savings around, you just need to dig sometimes to find them.

I would go to catch the Christmas decorations (we have just done this for the first time 10th-21st Dec) and loved the atmosphere and all the decorations. The weather was cold 2 days, wet one morning till late afternoon and then beautifully hot and sunny for the rest. We did venture in the hotel pool once. We did try water rides once on a hot sunny day and the water was freezing cold and I wouldn't recommend it. The humidity levels were not as high as in July so you didn't need to have a rest sometime during the day.

I am not bothered about Halloween at all so am not interested in this time of the year and would be too much of a wimp for HHN. I would, however, like to go during food and festival time at Epcot that looks a nice time to visit.
