Halloween @ Universal Studios Hollywood ~ How "Scary"?

I have a 10 yo girl and 13 yo boy. My daughter is kinda a scardy cat, but not my son. What is the "Scare Factor Rating" for Universal Studios?

Can we do Universal Just during the day for her and send him at night with an adult?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The event is very scary. There are costumed characters
roaming the "scare zones" with only one purpose - to scare
people silly. They chase, they jump out of dark places,
the slowly follow (stalk) and they make very loud noises.

The good news is the HHN is a separate event. You all can
spend the day in the park and see all the scary decorations
with no one chasing or jumping out and then your son and
an adult can return for the scares.

The event is very scary for kids...I've seen adults scream and cry there, I would not take any small children there. Teens and preteens would probably be okay if they don't scare easily.

How scary is it? Lets just say, Universal has had haunted houses designed by Clive Barker and Rob Zombie.

The event is seperate, at night, and VERY crowded with adults, many of whom are drinking alcohol. We barely had time to do the haunted houses, and many of the halloween themed shows were at capacity with no seats left. Expect long lines for EVERYTHING, very bad if you have small impatient children (if they don't run out of the park screaming first). If I were to do it again, I'd probably buy two seperate admission tickets...one for the regular daytime hours, that way I could see all the regular attractions and get on all the rides, and a second set of tickets for the Halloween event later at night (leaving the little ones in the room with a babysitter if possible).

My niece went last year when she was 12. Things don't usually scare her, except clowns, I guess. She was so scared by a character dressed as a clown and carrying a chainsaw, she spent the rest of the evening sitting in the car with her dad while they waited for the rest of the family.
