Whatever happened to basic cable TV stations airing halloween specials every evening the week of halloween?
The only special I see is The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown tonight on ABC. :confused3

They are all on cable stations so they can get more money :sad2:

It used to be that The Wizard of Oz was shown around Halloween as well.

I remember watching Garfield and Charlie Brown for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I will be letting my daughter watch Charlie Brown tonight. I can't remember other cartoons but I feel like there were others too. I'll ask my mom lol

My Comcast digital cable guide says Charlie is on tomorrow night 8pm ABC. :confused3

It's not a classic, but Monsters vs. Aliens has a Halloween special on NBC tomorrow night.

Can anyone else think of good classic Halloween Cartoon shows?

The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. (Okay, so only the Headless Horseman is really Halloween-esque. Maybe Disney could split it off or something?)
And there are all the various versions of Dracula, Nosferatu, etc - those don't seem to get hauled out anymore.

Disney ahd The Legend of Sleepy Hallow I always remember watching the geeky Ichabod lol

Our kids watch things like Goosebumps, Twitches, Halloweentown High etc. They think Charlie Brown is kind of lame, do your kids actually like it?

There are supposed to be a Monsters VS Aliens special on tomorrow night.

You don't know where to get your hands on a copy of Disney's Halloween Treat do you? It was my kids favorite and they wore out the tape it was on and now Disney channel never shows it.

If ANYONE ever sees it and can let me know it's going to be on I would be forever grateful. Or if ypu can't get a hold of me and you tape it....I'll gladly buy it from you.

Yes I agree with you OP they no longer play the wholesome family shows on regular TV stations.

My 10.5 dd likes the movies you mentioned however she absolutely loves to watch Charlie Brown as well....to each it's own. :goodvibes

To answer the original question, I have been disappointed with the holiday TV specials for a long time. Either they never have the good ones on, or they play crappy shows that are not really "holiday cheer" whatever the holiday is.

We really miss Disney's Halloween Treat and at Thanksgiving they used to play the Charlie Brown special, but I haven't seen it on tv for years. Thank goodness I got the Charlie Brown box set a couple years ago.

I think my youngest would love it but the two older would probably razz him about it. I think I'll DVR it and he can watch it while they are at intramurals after school tomorrow ;)

my 12 year old DD is watching "it's the great pumpkin charlie brown" right now. :)

Mine are watching Charlie right noow too!- I really can't remember any others though-- Now Christmas specials gotta have Rudolph and Frosty!

Tonight's Charlie Brown is an hour. It's also on again tomorrow night - but only half an hour. :goodvibes My boys and I are watching right now. "Snoofy" is one of DS2's favorites (after Buzz Iteyear of course!):rotfl:

At least you all get Charlie Brown. Our local ABC station pre-empted for a special on the Virginia governor elections. :sad1: Isn't it bad enough that they call us umpteen times a day??? :sad2:
