We are having our second annual trunk and treat at school so we are thinking of a Toy Story theme.
Our car/cars have to be in the design of the theme so if we bring one car it will be R/C car, if we do 2 cars it will be Slinky dog.
We also do a pumpkin contest at school so the kids decorate pumpkins. I usually buy the fake pumpkins and we set the previous years pumpkins around the house.
I don't really decorate the house for Halloween though. We live on a busy road and my kids are the only ones at the bottom of the hill so we don't get visitors.

I always love the martha stewart halloween magazine. Her stuff is awesome!

Cruise?! night out! that sounds so nice at the moment! definitely hope you guys have a good trip out. I definitely have some pictures coming up for this thread. Loading as we speak.

Going to try to make a Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas dress for my tall 5 yr old daughter for the MNSSHP. I can't sew but I am going to attempt something. Any suggestions?

Last year DS wanted to be a chicken, but I had to put my own Science-y spin on it. He had a very cute store bought chicken outfit, but I used the freezer paper technique to make him a sash like a fair queen that said, "Pox". I used paint to put red dots on his face. For DH I made him a bird mask, made him wear my feather boa and made his sash say, "Flu." For me, I dressed in pink, got one of the pre-made felt hats from M's that looks like a pig and made a sash that said, "Flu." We had an infectious Halloween! :rotfl:

Seriously though we got lots of compliments, DS won the costume contest, and it was perfect timing as everyone was slightly hysterical because of the start of flu season.

were doing pocontas:) were a native american family so this works for us.
me- pocontas
Ma- Grandmother Willow
Dc 10- Native american warrior (her choice)
DC 9- Nakoma
Auntie- John smith? (any other ideas?)
Doggy- meeko

We are tossing around Toy Story for MNSSHP. The two best costumes are my mom and dad as Mr and Mrs Potatohead!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: And my DH and DS9 as Slinky! :lmao: My DS9 insists that he does NOT want to be Slinky's butt!!! But if I could figure out a way....
:rotfl2:

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard! good for them! the slinky costume idea sounds absolutely awesome! :lmao:

we are planning on a Toy Story family theme. DD's Jessie and Tour Guide Barbie, me Little Bo Peep and DH Woody.

DS found a hot dog costume at Party City last week for $5. I think he is going to wear that with our own twist...I am going to get fabric and make stuffed versions of a pickle, tomatoes, peppers, etc to sew to the dog. He can wear his White Sox hat with it and be a Chicago style dog! :lmao:

Now, to figure out how to make myself a slice of pizza, with my Yankees hat of course. Suggestions? DH is a Reds fan. What sort of food is Cincinnatti-style? :confused3

DH could be Graters Ice Cream, a 3 way hot dog. I'm sure there are more, but i'm brain dead tonight.
S :)

My boys BOTH want to be characters from Harry Potter. Will it be...awkward having them walk around at MNSSHP in "Universal" costumes????? :rolleyes1

We seem to have started an annual Halloween party tradition at our house.
We have lots of Halloween related food. There is always a graveyard cake. And lots of decorations - DH's aunt brought over so many decorations her SUV was completely packed.

Last year, we all dressed up as various zombies/dead people/misc. characters. My sister in law was the Hat Box Ghost from the Haunted Mansion. That is the Hat Box Ghost big fig behind her.

We also took DH's car and parked it at an angle in the driveway. We attached a mannequin head to a stuffed body, added spiderwebs, spiders and a strobe light. I wish we had better pictures. It was pretty spooky at night and we got tons of compliments on it.

We have just started tossing around ideas for this year.

I'm signing on for some ideas! I'm going to WDW in Oct with friends and they are all pro costumes..I on the other hand am not crafty nor do I have a ton of money to put into something I'll wear once, maybe twice?

My one friend suggested Wendy: blue nightgown, white tights, black flats, and some ribbon but the rest of them are doing Adventureland themes so I don't want to be the odd one out!

MommyBoo, I may borrow your lady in the car idea. We go to Halloweekends at Lake Rudolph camp ground and this would be a great.

My friend put the outline of someone in her car, nearly died of fright when we turned away from her house! It was so dark, just the outline, I am surprised I didn't have nightmares!

We will be in Disney the week before Halloween. It is my second favorite holiday. My son was born a few days after and I am loving that we can have Halloween inspired birthdays for him. :) We have lots of decorations I'll start putting out in Sept.

This year we are going to MNSSHP and doing the Toy Story thing. Husband and I are going to be Ken and Barbie. My little guy will be woody and I am hoping to turn this into Bo Peep for my 4.5 year old.
