Halloween Party Vs. Christmas Party

A few years ago my mom and I went to the Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. We did not quite have a lot of fun but it was cool to see the Halloween Decor and the parades during the party. The day we went to the party it was HOT out in October. We didn't get candy (due to lines being long). We came to the conclusion that the Halloween Party was not worth it....in our opinion.

However...

I'm curious to see if the Christmas Party is better then the Halloween Party?
What are the differences between the two parties other than the obvious decor and theme?

Both events are mostly about the parades and fireworks...and if you can stay til closing you may get some shorter lines.

Beyond that, "worth it" is a highly personal decision...based a lot on which holiday(s) you most enjoy away from Disney.

A lot of people favor one party over the other because they favor that holiday outside of Disney.

I think strong Disney fans should have both party's on a bucket list.

I've been to both and prefer the Christmas party. I absolutely love it, but I love anything Christmas. The parade is amazing...snow falling on Main Street...Christmas smells...it is just magical.

We also love that there have been virtually no line ups for rides during party hours.

We have been twice and are going again this year.

At the Christmas party, they give away yucky hot chocolate and tasteless cookies instead of candy. Other than that, it's pretty much the same--stage show, parade, fireworks, special characters.

We love the Halloween Party. Will be trying the Christmas Party this year. I LOVE Christmas and Disney, so it can't be bad, right?

i am the opposite, I had a lot of fun at the Halloween Party, but the Christmas one just didn't have the same energy for me.

im going to the christmas party because it lands bffs bday but i actually have very little interest in it, but the halloween one looks cool id want to go to that if i could.

We much prefer the Halloween party over the Christmas party, but honestly after the last one in Nov (which happened to be a Christmas party) we aren't planning to do either for the foreseeable future. They just seem too crowded and ours wasn't even a sold out night. I couldn't see the parade (I'm short), couldn't see the stage show (I'm short), and we bailed after the fireworks because we were so tired - we're early riser types, not late night types. If it started earlier and they sold less tickets I'd be there in a heartbeat.

It's really about what you enjoy and how well you deal with crowds for the price. For us the value just isn't there. I will miss the Halloween parade and fireworks though. Those are the best Disney has in my opinion!

I LOVE Christmas and all things Christmas!!! I am not a big fan of Halloween. We have been to both parties, and while we love both, we much prefer the Halloween party. We had gone to the Christmas party several years before ever attending the Halloween Party. The whole atmosphere of the Halloween party is fun with seeing the guests in costume, etc. It seems like the whole park is a party atmosphere. We also loved the Haunted Mansion area during the Halloween party with the special magic photos and Carlotta and Renatta entertaining on the mansion lawn. The guests in costume, the attitude of all the guests in costume, and the Haunted Mansion area made it all feel like "more" than the Christmas party to us. We are more about the characters, shows, parade and décor, so we don't really care about the Trick or Treating- but that is a "more" item too I would say. The Halloween party just seems to have more energy than the Christmas party.

The Christmas party is fun too- we like the parade and the castle show. For the Christmas party, I would say the main difference is the décor and theming. They have special characters out like Halloween, and some of those are different than the ones you find at Halloween. There are several places you can stop in and get Hot Chocolate and Cookies. For us, both parties are worth it. In fact, we have been known to go more than one night. If you did not think the Halloween party was worth it, I would not think that you would think the Christmas party was worth it either.

It all comes down to personal preference, but I greatly prefer the Halloween party. Reasons:

-- The opportunity to dress up in costumes at the MK makes for some amazing photo ops you don't normally get (since adults can't wear costumes on other days.)
-- The "vibe" of the park on MNSSHP nights is amazing--especially with all the other guests in costume makes for great people watching
-- Trick or treating and candy is better than the sugar cookies and hot chocolate they give out at the Halloween party
-- The parade and fireworks are better IMO (I don't much care for Holiday Wishes, I think regular Wishes is better, although the Christmas parade is great)
-- MNSSHP is one of the only options to do anything Halloween related at the parks-- even if you don't do MVMCP you can still see the Candlelight Processional/Holidays Around the World at Epcot or the Osborne Lights at DHS.

In contrast I didn't really feel the Christmas party was a good value for the money.

Oh those cookies! It was not normal how bummed I was about those awful cookies ... We actually preferred the gluten free ones they gave us for my son. That's pretty sad!

Funny! My husband said my gluten free ones were better too! :-)

I agree with Halloween party voters. Like pps have said, the vibe in MK is just totally different and energized. And I love hearing NBC music and seeing the HM in its glory. I'm a little goth girl at heart though so I could be biased :P

I have been to MVMCP 24 times many times twice a year.We love it that much but over the years it has changed and is not the same experience it was the first 12 years.Plan on going again this year.We love Christmas and not so to fond Halloween, only been to two Halloween party's.It was fun and we had a good time, with that said we prefer the MVMCP'

The Halloween Party is better in my opinion and I don't understand how you say the lines were long. Almost every party we have been at was sold out capacity and never had a line for anything but the "special" character meet and greets. The line at candy stations move constantly and is never more than a 5 minute wait, same for most attractions most of the night.
