Halloween on the Magic 2013

Just wanted to stop in and say hi!!

Just booked THIS MORNING!! Can't wait and luckily, I won't have to wait long!!

I will be cruising w myself, DH, DS9 and DD7. Pulling the kids out of school (still getting over that small tinge of guilt since I've never pulled them out for vacation before but I know it'll be worth it)! Traveling from CA.

Is there a FB group for this sailing?

Ok first time cruiser with a few questions:

1: can the kids order from the adult menu?

2: I want to bring a swim life jacket on board for my niece, does this fall under sports equipment?

3: I can't find the link to recommended gratuities from DCL and couldn't find I through google does anybody have it?

4: Do the kids clubs still run on the days we are at a port?

5: Anybody with kids (we are travelling with two 5 year olds) want to meet up on board so they know some familiar faces in the kids club? I know it was mentioned before but haven't seen any plans.

6: Anybody who has cruised before what are the hair dryers like? Should we pack one?

1. Yes and adults can order off the kids

2. They have them at CC for free use. We brought one on our first cruise, so you can bring them. But we have not since.

3. google dcl tip calculator should bring up dcl cruise blog as teh number 1 option.

4. Yes.

6. The hair dryers on the new ships are good. the classic ships...lacking. There is a possibility they will be updated with the overhaul, but that is NOT confirmed, just speculation.

1. Yes, they sure can order off the adult menu.

3. We usually do the prepaid gratuities then give them extra cash if they go above and beyond.

6. As the OP said, the ones on the dream and fantasy are nice. The ones on the magic and wonder are lacking. They may have been updated but who knows. I usually just use the one on the ship, either way.

The last time we went on a disney cruise, two of our kids were were old enough to use the kids clubs. Often times they didn't care about the whole pomp and circumstance of dinner and just wanted to get back to the clubs.

So our waiter would bring them their food as soon as we got there. They would finish eating quickly (typically about the time appetizers were being finished up) and then I would drop them off at the club. By the time I would get back to the table, dinner would just be arriving and we would enjoy the rest of the meal.

Since the two of them are a little older now (almost 10 and 7.5), they like the thrill of ordering off the adult menu. Not specifically because of the quantity of food, but more because they get tired for the standard kids meal options.

Anyway I told them that they had to pick which one they wanted to do on a per night basis - eat fast and go to kids club means kids menu; or order off the adult menu but then they are there the whole time.

While they can pick on a per night basis which they will do, they have to both agree which one it will be. Also, ordering off the adult menu means they need to behave properly.

Personally, I feel like this is a good compromise for them.

On a side note, you know you have been to WDW too many times when you go out to eat at home and your kids ask if a drink, appetizer and dessert comes with tonights dining credit. I realize that the appetizer is no longer included in the DDP, but my son remembers when it was. Personally I really miss that it and the tip were removed from the standard dining plan. How I miss the day when it was $35 for the dining plan and the table credit included soft drink, appetizer, entrée, desert and tip. Now THAT was a deal!

We're booking today for the Oct 27 Magic sailing! Can't wait, but at the same time, totally stressed about the whole fish extender thing and decorating the door! My husband and I are going to try to keep it a surprise for our 10 yr old daughter! So much FUN!!

I have just been given the surprise of being on this cruise with my 17 year old son.
My family gave it to me because I was given the good news this past Monday that I am Breast Cancer free!!! I know it is last but one of my wishes was to go on a Disney Cruise and be able to participate in any and all activities. Is there any way we can be added on to the FE list. I really am so excited that I am already planning to go out and buy surprises!!!I will be so grateful if you would accept me and Matthew. Life is so wonderful when you get a second chance at it. Good idea to have late sign ups deliver to other late sign ups, then others if they want to.

I have added some new names to the FE list under the late comers. If you signed up late, please be sure to give gifts to the late comers first, if possible, then give to others if you want to/can. I just want to make sure that the late comers receive gifts too!

I am not going to hunt down people to get stateroom numbers. Please make sure I get a stateroom number for the FE list, if you have not listed one yet!

Finishing up gifts for both groups and late comers as of 10/10 (ready for 28 cabins plus a few extra) and I'm guessing I'm gonna have to ship them to our hotel in Miami. If I bring the box with me to check in, will Disney keep it with my other luggage or will I have to lug this box around with me til our room is ready?

Hi again!!

If it's not too late, can we be added to the fish extender list? Not sure what info you need from me but here is some basic info.

Cabin will be My Husband Charles, myself (Cindy), Collin (DS9 - tree nut allergy) and Cayla (DD7 - no allergies). We are GTY so don't have a cabin just yet. We booked earlier this week!
