I just noticed that my cruise in September is a Halloween on the High Seas cruise. I have been able to find some information but not a lot. Has anyone done a Halloween cruise and is there anything in particular you liked about it?

We did 3 Halloween on the High Seas cruises. Not because we chose them, but because that's what they were. The Halloween activities were basically on one night of the cruise, so it was fairly easy to avoid them, when we wanted to. However, there were Halloween decorations up, mostly in the atrium for the whole cruise.

Personally, I prefer a basic, "regular" cruise over a themed one.

The lobby was decorated with a Halloween tree with jack o lanterns on it. I won't give it away, but the display got more interesting as the cruise progressed. There were jack o lantern stickers on the large portholes on deck four around the lobby area. There was a trick or treating event we did not attend. The paper drink cups said "Halloween on the High Seas" but other than that it was not overt. I believe there were a couple showings of the Nightmare Before Christmas in the theatre and a meet and greet with Jack and Sally. Others who had kids along with them might have participated in more stuff than we did. It was fun, but definitely not overwhelming if you are not into Halloween.

Thank you both! I was worried it might be too much for my party since they are not into Halloween. I do not mind the Halloween theme and I am looking forward to it.

Character dance parties and meet and greets with the characters in their halloween costumes. The dance party also has trick or treat and a few games around. Some extra Halloween based entertainment in some of the other (adult) venues. Some extra activities in the kids clubs. The pumpkin tree. And maybe a different menu one night in the restaurants. Although some things will be available throughout the cruise, the majority of it usually happens over one afternoon/evening. They're all pretty easy to avoid though, if you don't want to do Halloween.

The thing we found interesting was the amount of adults who dressed up in costumes, almost every night too

We sailed last year during September and Halloween on the high seas. I have a video from our trip if you want to get an idea of how much Halloween is on the ship.

When do they usually announce which cruises are Halloween? We're on the 10/1 and 10/4/17 Mexico cruises and my wife and daughter are really hoping they're HotHS cruises.

I saw it pop up on my reservation page when I paid it in full, we sail on September 24th this year and we have done 2 other HOTHS in mid to late September . I think DCL announced the Halloween cruises though in May.
I would have no doubt that your October sailings are HOTHS themed. :)

Thx, I think they probably will be too, but last year on the Wonder, we disembarked on 10/1 and that was the day they started decorating! They were bummed seeing the tree go up as we were walking off the ship, but I guess we're bummed anytime we walk off a ship.

Oh no! That would just add insult to injury for sure. Maybe it is different timing on the Wonder?? We have done the Fantasy during those times of year and they seem to start early September lol
I hope that you get to see it!

Be prepared that if you have kids on these cruises...they give out a lot of candy to the kids...a major sugar overload and good stuff. Kids will have a blast!

I will be on the same cruise! I also saw it pop up on the reservation page when I paid in full a few weeks ago.

Looking at last year's Navigator it appears that the Halloween party is held on the same evening as Pirate night on the 3 day cruise. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? I'll have a costume for MNSSHP with me, just wondering if I also need to pack a pirate outfit as well. Thanks.

We were on the repo from Vancouver to San Diego so I think that may have had something to do with it. Next year that trip is earlier in September so I'm pretty sure we'll be good.

I was happy to find out that we will be on the first Halloween cruise when we sail for Labor Day weekend on the Dream! I love Halloween and my DD is looking forward to Trick or Treating on top of our FE gift exchange.

Interesting that DCL still did no communication on these cruises to those booked and it still does not show up on reservation until payed in full. (Some may recall my ranting thread)

It won't be over the top but it will be there.

Unlikely I will sail Disney again as May (Star Wars) and Sept/October are my vacation times and I do not want themed cruises.

I think we just miss it on our 9/27 sailing on the Magic, I am hoping we get to see the set up of the Halloween tree towards the end of the cruise, thinking it would be neat to see in person
