I would like the kids to be able to trick or treat in DTD on Halloween night and have dinner before, durring or after the trick or treating. Does anyone know what locations participate in trick or treating? Is there a suggested or required route to follow?

Anyone have suggestions on dinner in DTD on Halloween night? TS, not CS

Thanks

I didn't know DTD had trick or treating for the kids on Halloween night. We will be at DTD Halloween night as well. I would like to see the answers to this question. If the stores or businesses at DTD have trick or treating for the kids then my kids won't have to go a year without TRT'ing. I thought we were just out of luck since we decided to go to Disney during Halloween. And you couldn't pay me to go to MNSSHP on Halloween night.

There are about 30 T or T spots and it's usually Oct 30 and Oct 31. I HIGHLY recommend the 30th over the 31st. We went both nights because we saw Cirque de Soleil La Nouba on the 31st. There are also a few live entertainment spots. I think it started at 5 and definitely be there right at the beginning because it gets insanely crowded more though on the 31st. We've also been on sold out nights to MNSSHP and that was a walk in the park compared to DtD. If you want to eat definitely a better night for a sit down dinner with a reservation than trying to get a quick bite to eat. IN terms of where to start the marketplace side has a few more spots close together and seemed a bit less crowded than the other side but by about 6 each candy line had lines of probably 50 people each. Halloween was honestly scary to me how packed it was at about 8:30 after we left La Nouba. The 30th the lines for candy were more like 20-30 people each. My suggestion would be either eat early like 4 to be out at 5 to trick or treat for a short time. Bring candy to fill the kids bags so you don't have to feel like you need to keep going just do a few spots until the lines get to be no fun. If you eat that early you may find the quick places to not be too crowded yet. On the 30th we ate at Rainforest Cafe early and T or T for maybe 2 hours. On the 31st we ate early at Wolfgang Puck Express (the Disney Quest side one it was not busy like the marketplace one), trick or treated for about 45 minutes and then saw Cirque which was a super way to enjoy Halloween and then did MNSSHP on Nov1 which has sold out the past 2 years (but was totally great fun and not crazy crowded).

What kind of places were doing the trick or treating? The Disney stores, etc? The restaurants? Was everybody down there trick or treating?

It was most of the stores and some restaurants. Most of the candy was provided by Disney and was the same mix as mnsshp with a few nice kinds and lots of smarties. The restaurants and some of the independent places like the pearl kiosk had their own candy. Nearly everyone kids and adults seemed to be trick or treating. It's all outside and the long lines start to overlap from 1 stop to the next. You don't have to go in order. There were a few stops just in random empty areas but they give out a map. When we found a short line we went through multiple times. While we waited for the doors to open at La Nouba we went through the candy line a bunch of times since it was far down and there were crowds blocking it waiting to get into the show it was less crowded.

Do they have trick or treating on both sides? DTD Westside and DTD Marketplace or is it mostly on the Marketplace side where all the stores are? Who hands out the maps that shows where the trick or treating will be?

I will change my 6pm dinner reservation at T-Rex to 8 pm so that the kids can start trick or treating at 5 and do it for a couple of hours before we eat.

Thanks for all the info.

We did the trick or treating in DTD last year on the 30th. It got insanely crowded quickly. We got there before it started and waited for it to begin. It started at 5pm. I highly recommend doing that. The trick or treating locations were all over Marketplace and Westside. Make sure to hit Ghiradelli because they hand out their own candy. They have maps available with the trick or treat sites on them.

We made dinner reservations for 6:30 and did trick or treating before that. We were planning to hit a few more trick or treat locations after dinner but it was so crazy that we just left instead.

Go early and have fun!

IMHO it is not worth it. The crowds are crazy and it is a madhouse. We went last year on the 30th. We got there around 6 after waiting for 4 buses from the POLY. We were staying at All Stars, but we were at the Poly for Dinner. We stayed for an hour before calling it quits. Waited for almost 2 hours for a bus and had to fight to get off on our stop. I would rather pay the money for the MNSSHP which we did as well and it was awesome. Just my thoughts.
