We love
MNSSHP! Here are my suggestions:
1. Get a map. Lots of people are in a hurry and forget to look for the special park map for this event. (also trick or treat bags usually someone will be handing them out before you go under the train station)
2. Plan on the 2nd parade. This gives you more time to explore the park and wait for crowds to thin. You will want to have front row seats for this show.
The fireworks are amazing for this event. also, for the parade if you have a rain poncho to put on the ground this will help to define "your area". I always let other small children sit in front of us so they get a great view.
3. Wear a costume or dress your family in bright colors for your photos. You will get a special photo pass card for this event. (We looked for the photographers!) hint: look for photographers who use the castle as a backdrop.
4. Put the kids down for a late nap, but if they run out of steam don't force them to stay. This is a late night, and for some familys who like the zero lines, the last hour is pure magic.
5.Look for the events that speak to small children, dance events, and story telling events are different and will make this night special.
6. If you want the kids to go to sleep, dont let them eat to much candy that night. Let them have say 5 pieces a day until its gone or you return home. I find that controling the sugar "high" makes for a smoother trip! ha ha ha
7. Take a camera that works well during dark events, this parade can be tough to catch on film. Low lights, and lots of fast action.....
the headless horseman is just not to be missed! He is FAST and very early in the parade, almost a pre parade event.
Have a fantastic time!
