Halloween how different is DL to WDW?

I am just wondering if anyone has been to both DL and WDW when the parks are decorated for Halloween. I am wondering if the decorations are the same at both MK parks or completely different
I am trying to work out wether we want a day an afternoon or 2 days when we go back to LA our only reason for going back is to see the park decorated we will have already been there in August. Originally we were getting APs so it wouldn't of really mattered but now we are getting 2 lots of tickets i need to work it out so I can figure out a hotel as well.

Hi! I have been wondering the same things as we are going to both sides of the country over Halloween as well.

Speaking to some American relatives, the general thought was:

- DL Park is decorated better than MK, but MHP isn't as good as MNSSHP
vs
- MK is decorated well but not as good as DL, but MNNSHP much better than MHP.

Not sure if you were considering going to the parties at all?

They also said that the rest of WDW doesn't really have any decorations.

Having said all of that, I'm still yet to see it on person, so would be very keen to hear from others who have done it all in one year!

We did Halloween at DL in 2008 and it was AMAZING.

We were at WDW last year for Halloween. It was ok, but it had nothing on DL in my opinion.

Thanks for that we will be definitely going to see DL decorated if that's the case I just didn't want to pay to see they were the same the only reason we are going back early is to see DL decorated as we are flying home later than normal

Thanks for that I was hoping there would be a MHP party whilst we were there but it seems they start later than WDW we are going to MNSSHP on the 11th and the we fly to LA on the 14th then home on the 16th it will be very interesting to see the difference between the 2 parks.

We have done both.

From a general theming pov I think DL is better than WDW if you weren't going to do one of the special nights.

But WDW 's MNSSHP is a real experience with theming/parades/trick or treat combination being a winner by a nose.

Going to MNSSHP on the 11th Sept I got the tickets last week I figured it was safer to have them now than worry, I was thinking we could skip seeing DL decorated but we won't will definitely go and check it out.

Don't forget that Disneyland does up the Haunted Mansion for Halloween (Nightmare Before Christmas) whereas WDW's stays the same. Also, Small World gets done for the Holidays at DL, although I'm not sure if it's done as early as the time you will be there...

Disneyland's Halloween festivities in the past have been included in your ticket, although they were thinking of changing that (you'd have to check), and WDW's party is a separate, hard-ticketed event.

I've seen both parks decorated and they are pretty nicely done, although they don't hold a candle to Tokyo DL for Halloween decos.

We did DL at Halloween last year - Haunted Mansion Holiday is great and worth seeing if you are a fan of the HM, Tim Burton or just OTT decorating generally! (and what DIS fan isn't?!) - it is a Xmas/Halloween blend...
Small World holiday overlay doesn't go up til immediately after Halloween - but they start putting up Christmas decorations around the park then too, so we got to see a few of those too - snow on the castle etc.
