Halloween Horror Nights FAQs?

Hello all! I've done a search of these boards and I am not finding a HHN mega thread anywhere. Is there one?

I have a lot of questions since DH and I are thinking about going this Fall. We are going to WDW for food and wine and to run the half marathon. But DH is a horror movie junkie and I think he would REALLY like this. So we are planning on adding a couple nights at HRH at the beginning of the trip so we can attend HHN.

Since we are also planning to get to UO next April, we also may purchase annual passes. Will we get into HHN with the AP, or do we need separate tickets? Also, does the EP that comes with staying onsite transfer over to HHN?

What should we expect when we go to HHN? Is just about everything geared to horrow? Is the regular part of the parks open? Is HHN in both UO and IOA?

I'm kind of a big baby when it comes to horror stuff. Just how scary is it to be there? I may just skip some of the more scary houses...any suggestions which are the most scary?

And I guess finally (at least for now), if we are there 10/30 and 10/31, is there a pretty good chance those dates will have HHN?

That's all I can think of for now...I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way though.

Thanks!

We don't usually start the threads till around May time, maybe a little earlier........

Mean time you can do a search for previous threads.....there are lots of them from previous years.

macraven starts the official threads nearer the time.......of course I'm not saying you can't ask questions till then .......lol......feel free.......lots of HHN fans on here..........

It's in Studios only, park closes to regular guest not doing HHN at 5pm.......they get escorted out while prep is made for the event.

You need a seperate ticket to get in as it's a hard ticket event, but you can purchase with your AP I believe.......if not someone will correct that I'm sure........

Hotel EP is NOT valid for HHN......you have to purchase it separately. And it's worth every cent!

It's a lot of fun!

Depending on the AP that you purchase, a night of HHN may be included (I got one with Premier). Even if you don't go in all the houses, there is still plenty of different atmosphere to experience between the scare zones and shows. We sat on a bench in Vamp55 last year for almost 40 mins just watching people get scared and had a great time. I would guess 10/30-31 will be VERY busy as it's a few of the last nights. The houses are so well done and beautiful, you can distract yourself easily from the creepy people.

It's a great time! Enjoy!

Thanks, Shumigirl! I think I am going to start by reading your latest trip report…see you there!

Thank you! I'm afraid I'll have a heart attack…I may be getting too old for haunted houses!

Halloween night itself is usually quieter than most nights, especially if it's not a weekend.

That's good to know!

I actually tried that and wasn't really getting the answers I was looking for. Starting this was way more helpful :-)

@schumigirl I noticed you go multiple nights…is that what most people do? We are only spending two nights, should we go both nights? Can you get through most of he houses in one night with the EP?

I think it varies with your stay.

We stay 18 nights and buy the Rush of Fear with EP which covers the first 3 weeks of HHN. For us that means we could go to HHN 10 nights usually.

We just don't want to spend 7/8 hours at HHN on any night, so we choose to spend 3/4 hours max and take our time. That way we do all the houses and scare zones over several nights and repeats.

With EP you can certainly do all the houses in one night......it may take you all night till the end if it's a really busy night, but definitely doable. With EP you can do each house once with it.

If you are in the parks for Stay and Scream it gives you a good advantage over the rest of the crowds......you can do two houses usually without using the EP, then you can do it later again if you wish using the EP.

Peak nights are Friday and Saturday
Non peak nights are Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday

Hhn tickets cost more on peak nights

Thank you! I guess we'll try to go both nights if they are available. I'll plan on NOT getting to see EVERYTHING, but will definitely get the EP.

Since we will only be there a couple of nights, I quess we'll just have to pay whatever they ask.

I did not find it super scary, just things jump out from hiding places really. The houses have so much detail its awesome.
We went Oct 31st and it wasnt too crowded we did not have EP and got everything we wanted to do done.

If you get the premier pass you get one HHN ticket (they can't be used on saturdays) in the pass. We have a preferred AP which i believe gives you a discount but you do have to buy the tickets still. You have to purchase EP separately for HHN.

I guess you could say everything is geared to horror at HHN it is very well themed. There are scare zones, houses, and shows. There will be merchandise with the icon (who hosts it) and different drinks available. It's only in UO. Quite a few of the rides and areas are still open and your HHN EP will work for them too. Rides have very low waits usually. The last 2 years Diagon Alley was open as well during HHN, and there is no horror themed stuff in there, and one of the shows is the Bill and Ted show which makes fun of pop culture events throughout the last year so that wouldn't be scary either.

The houses are different every year and there's no list of what they are yet. I don't find HHN too scary but (more fun) but I've never had a problem with haunted houses.

I'm pretty sure 10/31 always has it. But we don't go in October so I'm not sure.

As for going more than once I think it would be fun to but since it's expensive and realistically you might not have the time one day with EP is doable too. We've done 1 day with EP the last 2 years. Last year in our one night we saw: both shows, all the scarezones, all the houses, rode Men In Black, Gringotts, Rip Ride Rockit, and Transformers.

Just the kind of info I was looking for! Thanks :-)

Is it time to start the official HHN 27 threads? Universal revealed the calendar today! I wonder why Thursday, September 28 is not an HHN night.

As a side note, today Southwest released fares for September. My wife and I are booked at PB and have plane tix for the first weekend. Can't wait!

Yea and it goes to nov 4th

What did you think about the flex ticket?

I'm going to wait and start the annual 'when are you going' sticky, when the tickets go on sale

Anyone can make an information hhn thread now if they wish or perhaps a chit chat thread about hhn

Orlando United has some info out now

Do I understand the Flex Tickets correctly? There are two options: including Saturdays or excluding Saturdays. The ticket is valid for a single, eligible night. So these options would be for people that will be visiting USO, and they know they want to attend one night of HHN, but they do not know for sure which night? Or maybe they are concerned about weather changing their plans?

I don't remember what single night tickets cost last year, but the price doesn't seem too bad to me.

I sure hope Rush of Fear + Express returns, because we will be going 9/15 - 9/17.
