Halloween Horror Nights 17 RIP & Unmasking the Horror Tours

We should all meet up that night...I'll be there with Faindrops27 but we aren't doing the tour.

DH talked to a friend at work who said in the past he only did one house because the wait was nearly 3 hours!!! Is that true or was he exaggerating(we've never done HHN before)? Even if it was 2 hours, it makes that VIP tour cost look more and more attractive to me...glad I signed up for it.

On peak nights (Fridays and Saturdays) usually by 8pm the lines very often can be 3 hours or more. If you wish to do more than just two or three houses on a peak night you really need to have a Halloween Horror Nights express pass or be a part of an RIP Tour. Trust me the tour will be worth the money. You won't have to wait in line at all and you get let in through alternate doors that completely bypass the line.

if you attend a peak night, go to the stay and scream area by 5.
you will get a head start on the crowds and be able to see 3 houses before the crowds begin.

once the lines are long, then use the ep lane. you'll be able to do a repeat of the houses you did earlier in the regular line then.

yes the express pass is a necessity.

yes the express pass is a necessity.

I'd agree with this 100%

With the event growing in popularity wait times for some of the houses can be well over an hour even on non-peak nights. With express passes on non-peak nights we've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get into a house. Like mac suggested, do the stay and scream and you can get through several houses with no wait and not using your express pass. Yes you can do all the houses on a non-peak night without getting an express pass but you will spend the majority of your evening standing in one line after another (just like WDW).

Some have suggested the RIP Tours. Whether they're worth the extra $$ or not really depends on the tour guide and the group. Last year ours practically ran through the scarezones, skipped one of the shows because she didn't like it, and only took us through the houses once (because the rest of the group only wanted to go do the rides) so we didn't find it worth the extra $$ to save waiting 2-5 minutes at each house with an express pass. This year we're trying it again, this time some of us are putting together a group who are actually interested in HHN, not the rides, and requesting a decent tour guide.

I faxed in my request this morning for RIP tour for Thursday Oct 11th (was going to do Friday night but wife and I decided it would be more fun to sit poolside and sweat out all the HHN alcohol on Friday since we leave on Saturday).

Anyway the RIP tours for Sept 28th, Sept 29th and October 6th are all sold out so plan accordingly.

Mac you might have to change my tour date on the map thread.

Really looking forward to it again this year (this is our 9th year down and 6th with the tour). I started a business earlier this year and it will be nice to scoot down and take 10 days off in the sun and be a slave to my cell phone all week.

See you guys later,

Phil from PA

Cool, after the tour we'll be heading to a stay & scream area, so maybe we could meet there (hopefully Finnegan's again) or plan to meet at a certain house at a certain time. Since we're going to be a HHN for 4 nights this year, we're pretty flexible! We'll have to figure something out!

Yikes, never thought about the make-up of the VIP tour group...now I've just had a flashback to one of the tours I was on in the past at IOA. It was weird because there were two or three of the people HATED thrill rides, and that's what everyone else wanted to focus on. They would literally wait for the rest of us while we went on the coasters, Spidey, Dr. Doom, the water rides, etc. Why the heck would you go on a VIP tour if you have no interest in the main rides? At least most of the group was like-minded with us, so the "chickens" didn't impact our fun all that much...but it still felt a bit awkwardto have them doing pretty much nothing. On that same token, seems a waste to sign up for a HHN tour and then just focus on the rides...I can do that any other time...I want those HOUSES HOUSES HOUSES!!

we all worked out a date in advance and booked requesting a specific guide and to be kept in the same group.

we want to do houses and scarezones.
would love to do both A and B sets for each house. gotta catch all the csw ers i know in action!

came back to add, do want to do jaws in the dark and of course the mummy

i usually do the rides in the daytime before hhn begins
